Our healthcare system is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the U.S. Every year, over 50 million Americans suffer adverse financial consequences as a result of seeking care, from lower credit scores to garnished wages. The challenge is only getting worse, as high deductible health plans are the fastest growing plan design in the U.S.
Cedar’s mission is to leverage data science, smart product design and personalization to make healthcare more affordable and accessible. Today, healthcare providers still engage with its consumers in a “one-size-fits-all” approach; and Cedar is excited to leverage consumer best practices to deliver a superior experience.
The Role:
Cedar is a patient payment and engagement platform that leverages data science and consumer-centric design to improve the healthcare experience. We are seeking a Strategist III of Value Analytics to join our team during a pivotal roadmap year.
In 2025, our team successfully managed high-volume workloads and "lights-on" operations; in 2026, we are shifting our focus toward high-impact company imperatives and growth initiatives. This role is designed for a high-level individual contributor (IC) who can bridge the gap between patient billing expertise and data analytics. You will be instrumental in modernizing our reporting suite, expanding our value story across products and segments and supporting the evolution of our technical infrastructure, ensuring our data tells a compelling story of the value Cedar delivers to both providers and patients.
Responsibilities:
- Drive Strategic Imperatives: Own and execute key workstreams on the 2026 roadmap that directly impact Cedar’s broader company goals and market differentiation
- Patient-Centric Value Storytelling: Design and revamp internal and external dashboards that translate complex billing data into clear, persuasive narratives focused on patient engagement, satisfaction, and financial outcomes
- Reporting Layer Evolution: Act as a key technical resource during our upcoming reporting transition, helping to audit, migrate, and optimize our data visualization layer to ensure it remains scalable and insightful
- Value-Based Analysis: Conduct standard and bespoke analyses including A/B test evaluations, ROI modeling, collections lift analysis, and patient behavior trend-spotting
- Client Integration & Data Mapping: Develop a deep understanding of how client data integrates with Cedar’s database architecture to troubleshoot and optimize how we measure patient behavior and financial performance
- Independent Initiative Leadership: Lead analytical projects from ideation to delivery, managing timelines and stakeholders independently while ensuring the highest quality of insights
Skills and Experience:
- Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience in roles focused on value stories (e.g., Value Engineering, Business Intelligence, Strategic Analytics, Consulting ), with a track record of driving business impact through data
- Patient Billing & EHR Expertise: Strong understanding of the patient financial experience and billing metrics. Familiarity with standard EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and how they interface with patient-facing platforms.
- Data & Dashboarding: Strong proficiency in SQL for navigating complex databases and performing ad-hoc analysis
- Expertise in building sophisticated dashboards in BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, or emerging platforms like Omni) to drive executive decision-making
- Strategic Product Vision: Proven ability to translate ambiguous business challenges into structured, data-driven narratives that highlight Cedar’s unique value proposition while proactively identifying opportunities to evolve our data models and reporting suite into scalable, "best-in-class" revenue cycle products
- Communication: Exceptional ability to present complex data to non-technical audiences, creating narratives that are "impossible to ignore" for prospective and current clients
Nice to have:
- Technical Infrastructure: Experience with data modeling or an understanding of dbt/data pipeline engineering to better partner with our Data Engineering teams
- Healthcare Consulting: Prior experience in a client-facing consulting role focused on healthcare revenue cycle optimization
- Advanced Statistics: Experience applying statistical rigor to A/B testing and financial forecasting
