Description

Martin/Martin, Inc. is thrilled to offer an Externship Experience for college students this summer!

This one-week program will immerse students in the daily life of our structural engineers. Participants will learn about Martin/Martin’s current projects, collaborate on engineering tasks with peers, learn industry software, build valuable connections, and have ample opportunities to ask questions.


This unpaid externship will take place from June 14 - 18, 2027 from 10 AM - 2 PM daily. Lunch will be provided all week.

Applications for Martin/Martin’s Externship Program are reviewed by the team on a monthly rolling basis from August 2026 through April 2027. Should you be selected for this opportunity, you will be notified of your selection no later than the first week of May 2027.

The Teams

Our structural engineering teams provide custom solutions for new constructions and expansions both in California and nationally, with a strong record in notable projects like Coors Field, the SLAC Science and User Support Building, the California State Legislative Office Building, and Topgolf.

Responsibilities

  • Completes simple engineering calculations and models
  • 3D modeling
  • Prepares presentations
  • Site Assessments

Requirements

 Required

  • Ability to commute and attend programming in the work location where the Externship is based (Larkspur, CA)
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree 
  • Must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States, without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Desired

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in civil or architectural engineering

Working Conditions, Skills, and Abilities

This position is technical in nature, working mostly inside of the office completing a wide range of activities. The following abilities are required:

  • Completing repetitive movement on tasks such as using a mouse or keyboard
  • Remain stationary for long periods of time
  • Read, communicate, and document in English
  • Identify color
  • Determine and exchange accurate information
  • Occasionally move about outside of the office
  • Occasionally move or hold objects weighing up to 25 pounds
