Job Summary & Responsibilities

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB DUTIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Evaluates system specifications, installs enterprise computer systems, configures systems, establishes standards, ensures hardware/software compatibility and maintains workstations and server systems focusing on the Operating system and the network.

Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:

  • Performs the daily operational support on the computer Operating System to include system security, access, configuration, backups and restores
  • Specifies network requirements, monitors local area network (LAN) performance, troubleshoots networking hardware and ensures system is working properly according to specifications and parameters.
  • Organizes and secures directory structure and assists/trains staff members in the use of department Document Management (DM) Systems, associated databases and Configuration Management (CM)/DM release procedures
  • Maintains and designs functional, visually esthetic web pages
  • Specifies hardware requirements and provides Computer Authorization and custodial receipt listings to track equipment configurations and identification logs
  • Serves as point of contact (POC) for problem reporting, incremental version updates and monitors yearly support contracts
  • Makes recommendations for future hardware/software implementations and related process improvements, schedules, plans and performs system upgrades including the transition from design, test, production and documentation environments
  • Provides operational status as required
  • Uses established policies, procedures, and subject matter knowledge to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity performed under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for independent contribution
  • Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.
  • Manage and administer storage solutions including Network-Attached Storage and Storage Area Network (NAS/SAN) systems.
  • Other duties as required 

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION

The System Administrator will operate, maintain and administer real-time flight-testing systems in the Ridley Mission Control Center (RMCC). The System Administrator is responsible for leading work center personnel in resolving real-time mission support anomalies, performing daily system and network monitoring, and providing the status of all work center systems and networks. The System Administrator shall implement and enforce new and update existing network system administration policies. The System Administrator shall identify network and system administration weaknesses and problem areas and provide recommendations for corrective actions, must have the knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot data and telecommunication networks and equipment. The candidate, as the subject matter expert, will develop, modify, and review Operating Instructions for general network and system administration tasks within the work center. The candidate will perform maintenance, configuration, and administration functions on all required support systems. The candidate will perform various tasks regarding Media Management to ensure customer requests are fulfilled, inventory is tracked, and documentation is accurate. The candidate will perform additional duties as required.

Additional experience and duties include but are not limited to:

  • Experience/familiarity with the components of a computer system (PSU, CPU, motherboard, etc.).
  • Performing corrective and preventive maintenance procedures on all necessary equipment.
  • Manages the installation of computer hardware and software.
  • Operates test equipment and Telemetry Processing systems.
  • Operates and configures type one IP-based decrypters.
  • Works with and provides customer service to a variety of customers
  • Proficient with:
    • Windows Professional and Server OS.
    • Administrative Tools and Services.
    • Linux-based OSs: Redhat, CentOS.
    • Network switch/router configurations: CISCO and Juniper.
    • Citrix Provisioning Services.
    • Scripting utilizing PowerShell.
    • Virtual systems and creating images.
  • Acts as lead System Administrator in the performance of computer and network administration in accordance with documented security directives and requirements. Prior experience with, and knowledge of, Dept of Defense protocols and policies is a requirement.
  • Assists in the creation of documentation related to system creation/modifications to include Operating Instructions (OIs).
  • Must be able to obtain a CompTIA Security + certification within the first six months of the hire date or possess a current CompTIA Security + certification.
  • This position requires the candidate to be processed and approved for various security clearances. Maintaining these security clearances is mandatory for job retention.

This job is performed at the RMCC, in a real-time mission support environment. The candidate must be willing to work nonstandard tours of duties, which include nights, weekends, and overtime. The overtime may be short or no notice. Demonstration of a successful adaptation to a similarly demanding environment is a plus. The ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written is highly desired.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in a cross-utilized environment that supports real-time operations, an active DoD Secret security clearance or higher, and a current CompTIA Security+ certification.

Finally, the successful candidate must be a team player. We are seeking a candidate who is eager to learn and is equally eager to share his/her knowledge to strengthen the team.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

A bachelor’s degree in associated discipline from an accredited academic institution or equivalent experience through technical training, completion of a recognized certification program, or experience. Requires at least nine (9) years of experience in computer system related areas of expertise and must possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in computer science, graphics, and information systems.

In addition, a Systems Administrator IV must possess the following qualifications:

  • Must have specific experience in the maintenance of Operating Systems and support applications, in a centralized and distributed server environment
  • Must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
  • Must possess a valid, state-issued driver’s license
  • Must be a U.S. citizen

SALARY

The expected salary range for this position is $97,000 to $130,000 annually.

JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Will be asked to make functional the initiatives established by management and will coordinate with other organizations as affected by upgrades, capabilities, policy and procedures. Each employee must read, understand, and implement the general and specific operational, safety, quality, and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures, and policies pertaining to their job.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness.
