About the role:

We are looking for a System Design Engineer to drive current and future system & subsystem architectures that meet Skydio’s product vision, including platform & system level requirements, subsystem development, and system integration.  The ideal candidate will be an experienced self-starter with deep experience in one of Skydio’s core focus areas who is passionate about developing new technology for autonomous flying robots.
How you'll make an impact:

  • Collaborate with embedded, hardware, wireless, software, and autonomy teams to drive system level requirements, derive specifications, and develop subsystem architectures consisting of mechanical assemblies, electronics, and embedded software
  • Develop methods to simulate, quantify, analyze, and present proposals and designs for platforms & subsystems, as well as collaborate on prototyping efforts when necessary
  • Drive architecture specifications down to component-level selection and development
  • Help define and lead platform and subsystem technology roadmaps
  • Work with vendors to define and execute high-quality systems & subsystems

What makes you a good fit:

  • Strong communication skills across organizations and at the executive level, as well as comfort designing systems with no clear starting point
  • Good knowledge of state-of-the-art heterogeneous computing and processing blocks
  • Excellent written skills for clear reporting of data analysis and conclusions
  • Experience working on systems that integrate some combination of imaging, ranging, advanced computing, motor control, communication, sensing, and payloads.

Compensation: At Skydio, our compensation packages for regular, full-time employees include competitive base salaries, equity in the form of stock options, and comprehensive benefits packages. Compensation will vary based on factors, including skill level, proficiencies, transferable knowledge, and experience. Relocation assistance may also be provided for eligible roles. The annual base salary range for this position is $110,500 - $180,000*. Fundamentally, we believe that equity is the key to long-term financial growth, and we ensure all regular, full-time employees have the opportunity to significantly benefit from the company's success. Regular, full-time employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s group health insurance plans. Regular, full-time employees are eligible to receive the following benefits: Paid vacation time, sick leave, holiday pay and 401K savings plan.
