About the RoleThe Systems Engineer I contributes to the development and implementation of advanced system solutions by providing alignment and connection to the technical team throughout the product development lifecycle. The Systems Engineer I represents the viewpoint of the integrated whole during system development and works to glue segments and subsystems together via top-down decomposition of stakeholder requirements, traceability through development artifacts, and bottom-up validation and verification of the system. They help to shepherd the team through technical development milestones, track performance measures and identify technical risks to arrive at a compliant and cohesive system solution. The Systems Engineer I should have a basic understanding of Systems Engineering principles as they build expertise on specific systems engineering skills such as requirements management, system architecture development, concept of operation definition, system integration and system verification.
In this role, you will specify, architect, and integrate complex system solutions while collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and objectives. You will derive, decompose, allocate, trace, and manage system requirements and architectures to ensure alignment with project goals. Additionally, you will support development milestone reviews by creating artifacts and deliverables, and participate in system integration and verification activities to ensure system functionality and performance. Identifying and managing technical risks and developing mitigation strategies will be a key aspect of your responsibilities, as will adhering to established engineering processes and standards. Furthermore, you will communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure project alignment and successful execution.About You

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).
  • Typically entry-level 0 - 2 years of experience.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of systems design and development principles.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from senior engineers.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Practical understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices, including a basic understanding of the systems development lifecycle.
  • Experience with Requirements Management and Model Based Systems Engineering tools, such as DOORS, CAMEO EA, Rhapsody, Matlab, and SysML.
  • Experience with risk management, technical performance tracking, systems integration, and system verification and validation.
  • Familiarity with technical baseline and configuration management.
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Participated in 2026 SS Intern Academy.


Compensation:

Pay Range:

$77,685.00 - $106,816.50

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
