Systems Engineer Senior - Core Systems

Job Description
This position is for an experienced system engineer who can work in and/or lead a multi-disciplinary team to develop, maintain, verify and communicate the requirements baseline for a mission that includes Segment, Element (payload, spacecraft bus, and ground) and/or Subsystems. You will work within your program teams alongside a team of engineers through the program life cycle to develop, and manage requirements for, different specifications for various complex, high precision, and high reliability applications.

What You'll Do:

• Provide systems engineering support and leadership to technical teams in the development, verification, delivery, and operations of Missions, Segments, Elements, and Subsystems.
• Support the proper allocation, traceability, and verification of requirements at all levels through the lifecycle of the program.
• Interact with multiple subject matter experts to develop the required allocation analysis and verification artifacts.
• Use Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) for architecture to requirements traceability and interface development.
• Interface with and support the program's Lead/Chief System Engineer, Chief Engineer and Customer.
• Support expectations, preparations, and delivery for major gate reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, PSR).
• Coordinate requirements verification with I&T activities.
• Mentor other system engineers assigned to the team.
• Support the program Risk & Opportunity Management and ERB processes.
• Prepare and give presentations to peers, management, and customers.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
• May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
• May access other facilities in various weather conditions.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 4 or more years related experience.
• Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• The ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
• Familiarity with spacecraft system design and test.
• Experience using requirements database tools (DOORS, Jama, Cameo Requirements Modeler, e.g.)
• Demonstrated ability to review effective and verifiable requirements - detail oriented.
• Demonstrated experience in systems engineering processes, including requirements development, requirement allocation, change management, verification and validation - a self-starter that will own this activity.
• Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams including meeting schedule and performance goals.
• Good presentation skills with experience presenting to senior decision making and technical audiences.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $97008 - $164914

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
