Job Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide students with automotive work experience assisting with 
their ongoing educational training and skill development. The student will perform a wide array of duties within the Information Systems Department. 

This position has been posted to fill an existing vacancy starting September 2026.

POSITION SALARY:
$21.60 - $25.25 CAD Hourly

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Currently enrolled in a Computer Systems Technology program with Co-op placement. 8 month term preferred.
  • Experience with the analysis, implementation and support of hardware, software and systems, preferably in a manufacturing industry. 
  • Technical background, with an emphasis on administration of Microsoft Windows and complex TCP/IP networks. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Maintain extremely high ethical standards regarding all sensitive data that you may be exposed to. 
  • Continuously challenge past practices by actively exploring and implementing new solutions and methodologies to improve the quality and time to market of our product and services to the company. 
  • Produce a top quality product on time and ensure that it meets or exceeds our customer’s needs. 
  • Help train and support users on new applications, changes, and upgrades and/or recommend external training resources and co-ordinate effective training schedules. 
  • Participate in and facilitate departmental cross training on a day-to-day basis to provide the best possible support and protection of Formet’s operations by fostering a learning environment of sharing project, business, and technical knowledge with all other team members. 
  • Fully utilize the departmental Helpdesk application by diligently adhering to project due dates. 
  • Analyze, evaluate, implement and support network hardware, software and systems 
  • Act as “help desk” support for users’ day to day problems and questions
  • Take technical direction from senior staff 
  • Handle the installation, and support of PCs, laptops, printers, and peripherals 
  • Key person involved with Hardware and Software inventory and lifecycle replacement 
  • Software Installation and software package creation for distribution 
  • Assist in the administration of the LAN/WAN, including Internet access and communication 
  • Assist in monitoring and enforcing company standards 
  • Write technical documentation and manuals, and assist with end user training 
  • Involved in managing and supporting Formet’s internal wireless phone system (Spectralink), including the installation, training, support and trouble-shooting of all hardware 
  • Involved in the installation, training, support, and trouble-shooting of Wireless hardware, including: scanners, terminals, gateways and smart phones 
  • Perform other duties as designated
