About Guide Point

We're a growing remote accounting firm serving over 5,500 clients. Our approach stands apart from much of today's private equity–driven accounting landscape. We believe the profession has become too focused on profits at the expense of people and culture.

Instead, we're building a firm that values technical excellence, fairness, and respect for our professionals. Clear expectations, sustainable workloads, and a culture of integrity define how we operate—and how we aim to lead the next generation of accounting firms.

About the Role

The Tax Manager is responsible for delivering high-quality, technically sound accounting and tax solutions across a diverse client base of individuals and business owners. This position is ideal for a seasoned tax professional who values precision, client relationships, and meaningful work in a firm that prioritizes fairness and clarity over long hours and bureaucracy.

You'll work on a variety of individual and entity returns, manage direct client relationships, and serve as a trusted technical resource within the team. It's a role built for someone who wants to plant their flag at a well-run firm and grow with it over the long term.

We have strong systems, software, and support staff in place, so administrative and preparatory tasks are not part of this role. We value team players who can help when needed, but are committed to keeping your time focused on work that matches your level and skill set.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle tax review, signing, and client communication across individual and business engagements.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients who are individuals, business owners, or both — bringing emotional intelligence and professionalism to every interaction.

  • Handle a broad range of return types with primary focus on 1040, 1041, and 1065, with additional exposure to entity returns including 1120 and 1120S.

  • Read and interpret financial statements and review prepared business returns as part of supporting business-owner clients.

  • Act as a technical resource for junior staff on foundational tax and entity concepts while maintaining an active workload of assigned engagements.

  • Contribute to firm integration and process-improvement initiatives as new practices are onboarded.

Requirements
  • CPA designation required.

  • 9-15 years of public accounting experience with strong technical tax skills across individual and entity return types.

  • Proficiency in individual, partnership, and S corporation tax compliance; familiarity with trust returns (1041) a plus, though depth is not required.

  • Ability to read financial statements and understand business accounting in the context of tax work.

  • Comfortable managing direct client relationships, including business owners — clear, professional, and emotionally intelligent in communication.

  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, especially in a remote environment.

Benefits
  • Competitive Compensation

  • Fully remote

  • Significant growth opportunity within a mission-driven, people-first firm
