This role will combine tax reporting knowledge with hands-on testing, data validation, reconciliation, and defect management. The ideal candidate will have experience working with tax reporting systems and financial-services data and be able to validate end-to-end results from source/history data through core processing, tax form boxes, and final reporting outputs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute QA and UAT test scenarios and test cases, including functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, dress rehearsal, and production-validation testing.
  • Apply tax reporting knowledge to understand expected processing results, identify appropriate test scenarios, and validate system behavior.
  • Review business, functional, and tax reporting requirements and translate them into comprehensive testing scenarios and expected results.
  • Identify required test populations, test data, expected results, dependencies, prerequisite processing, and testing coverage.
  • Validate end-to-end tax data processing from transaction/history data through core tables, business-rule processing, tax form box calculations, and final reporting outputs.
  • Perform detailed data validation and reconciliation to identify discrepancies between source/history data, processed data, expected results, and tax reporting outputs.
  • Use SQL and Excel to research data, develop test populations, validate results, reconcile large datasets, and investigate testing discrepancies.
  • Validate source-to-target mappings, file layouts, data transformations, calculations, tax business rules, reference data, and system configuration.
  • Validate tax forms and reporting outputs against source data, expected results, documented requirements, and applicable tax reporting rules.
  • Execute positive, negative, boundary, exception, and regression testing to confirm system functionality and identify unintended impacts.
  • Identify and document defects in JIRA with clear reproduction steps, supporting data, expected results, and actual results.
  • Manage defects through analysis, remediation, retesting, regression testing, and closure.
  • Partner with Development, Product, Operations, QA, UAT, and Tax teams to investigate and resolve tax reporting, testing, and data discrepancies.
  • Track test execution, defects, blockers, dependencies, and outstanding items through resolution.
  • Maintain test cases, test evidence, reconciliation results, defect documentation, and supporting documentation required for implementation and production readiness.
  • Support annual tax-year changes, regulatory updates, system migrations, conversions, dress rehearsals, and production implementations.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in tax reporting, QA/UAT testing, tax data analysis, operations testing, or a similar role within financial services, with demonstrated experience combining tax domain knowledge and hands-on testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with QA and UAT testing, including functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, system-validation, and production-validation testing.
  • Experience developing and executing detailed test scenarios, test cases, test data, and expected results.
  • Experience performing end-to-end tax data testing across transaction/history data, core processing tables, tax form box calculations, and final reporting outputs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience working with large datasets, reconciliations, exception analysis, and root-cause investigation.
  • Proficiency with SQL and Microsoft Excel for data validation, reconciliation, research, and testing.
  • Strong hands-on experience with JIRA is required, including creating and managing defects, documenting expected and actual results, tracking issues through resolution, supporting retesting, and maintaining testing status and evidence.
  • Experience validating source-to-target mappings, data transformations, calculations, business rules, file layouts, reference data, and system configuration.
  • Strong experience identifying, documenting, tracking, retesting, and closing defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting data.
  • Experience working with or testing tax reporting systems or tax data platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with tax information reporting, including Forms 5498, 5498-ESA, 1042-S, and 1099 reporting, is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with retirement reporting, NRA reporting, income reporting, withholding, brokerage transactions, and securities processing is preferred.
  • Experience within brokerage, wealth management, banking, securities processing, asset servicing, or financial reporting environments.
  • Experience with large-volume data reconciliation and comparison testing.
  • Ability to independently manage assigned QA/UAT testing activities, reconciliations, defects, and test evidence through completion.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent testing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project-delivery methodologies.
