Summary of the Role

We are seeking a Tax Senior/Manager with 5+ years of public accounting experience to work on-site in our Richmond office. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in tax, excellent client service skills, and the ability to independently manage multiple projects. Key Responsibilities

Tax Preparation and Review:

  • Prepare and review individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Conduct detailed reviews of tax returns prepared by staff accountants.

Tax Planning and Advisory:

  • Provide tax planning strategies to clients to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Advise clients on tax implications of business decisions.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate their impact to clients.

Client Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for client inquiries and concerns.
  • Communicate proactively, clearly and effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Understands engagement/project profitability and effectively communicates status/issues

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Mentor, train, evaluate and provide feedback to staff accountants and interns.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure the completion of high-quality work.
  • Provide regular feedback and conduct performance evaluations.

Operational and Technical Excellence:

  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines independently and efficiently.
  • Act as “champion” in either technology area and/or specialized technical knowledge area.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may impact engagement quality or efficiency.
  • Share best practices and time-saving techniques with team members.

Requirements

Qualifications

Experience

  • At least 5+ years of current experience in public accounting required, with a focus on Tax Preparation.
  • Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • Proficiency in Thomson Reuters software suite, QuickBooks (desktop and online) and Excel preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Proactive, clear and effective communication (both written and oral).
  • Ability to adapt to new technology and stay current with changes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in order to meet multiple deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, teamwork and a positive attitude.
