Your Role

Your job will be to combine creativity and technical knowledge to produce functionally beautiful spaces for clients. You have exceptional design skills, a background in architecture, and a portfolio of innovative design concepts. You will collaborate with our broader design team to develop design solutions and coordinate the design through the construction documentation phase of a project.

This role is an active participant in our studio’s AI transformation. We are looking for a designer who integrates AI tools into visualization, iteration, and documentation workflows as a matter of practice, not experimentation. You will be expected to demonstrate AI-assisted work in your portfolio and contribute to team fluency as we evolve how technical design work gets done. Your work ethic, combined with your commitment to collaboration and mentoring, makes Gensler the perfect place to nurture your career.

What You Will Do

  • Work closely with Design Director, Studio Director, Design Manager, Design team to develop architectural solutions from conceptual level through construction documentation.

  • Render and produce high-quality visualizations and diagrams: Create compelling graphics and renderings that effectively communicate design intent, leveraging AI-assisted rendering tools (including FLUX-based and diffusion model workflows via RunDiffusion) to accelerate iteration speed and expand the range of options presented to clients.

  • Develop and study design options: Analyze and refine design ideas through sketches, 3D models, and iterations based on initial concepts; use AI-assisted workflows to generate, evaluate, and compress iteration cycles without sacrificing design judgment.

  • Collaborate with a Project Architect (PA): Work closely with a PA to develop detailed drawing sets and technical documents.

  • Direct preparation of conceptual designs, space plans, presentations, and design development.

  • Lead coordination with the Design/Technical team and Project/Design Manager(s).

  • Lead coordination with client team, project manager, construction manager and others to develop design deliverables and freehand sketches.

  • Review and manage project programs and design deliverables

  • Resolve complex design issues with innovative and practical solutions.

  • Drive project sustainability targets throughout project phases and actively engage in delivering them. Coordinate sustainability targets with project consultants and engineers.

  • Implement sustainable design strategies in every project stage and investigate solutions to sustainable design challenges.

  • Work collaboratively with the team to optimize sustainability performance through design iterations and research.

  • Lead climate-focused analysis and studies for each project.

  • Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture or related field from an accredited school.

  • 2-5 years of architectural project experience (core and shell).

  • Proficiency in Rhino, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), SketchUp, Unreal, Stable Diffusion and FLUX-based generative AI workflows (via RunDiffusion or equivalent enterprise platform), Grasshopper, Climate Studio, and your pen highly preferred; AI tool experience must be demonstrated in submitted portfolio, not listed as awareness only.

  • Outstanding graphics and visualization skills to effectively communicate design ideas.

  • Demonstrated AI fluency in an architectural workflow: portfolio must include at least one project where AI-assisted visualization, massing study, or design iteration played a documented role. Show the prompt, the output, and the judgment applied to it.

  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices.

  • Ability to learn, collaborate, and solve complex problems.

The successful candidate may not have a mastery of all noted tools, but generally should be comfortable navigating across 3D modelling, visualizing, and presentation platforms to create compelling diagrams & imagery. Comfort with AI-assisted visualization tools, particularly generative image and rendering workflows, is expected, not optional. Candidates who have built these into their practice will be prioritized.

For consideration, please submit a resume and portfolio in PDF format. Cover Letter optional.

**The base salary will be estimated between $80,000 - $91,000 annually plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
