We are seeking a Senior Technical Documentation Writer with experience in technical documentation and a strong understanding of the hardware and/or AI landscape.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, partners effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, and brings both rigor and empathy to technical documentation. You will have a direct impact on company success and will help shape all aspects of Technical Documentation as MatX continues to scale.
What You’ll Do Here
- Lead Technical Documentation for the software, hardware, and systems teams
- Work with hardware and software technical leads to generate documentation, both for internal use as well as external-facing customer documentation
- This includes, but is not limited to:
- Developer documentation, including:
- Hardware Architecture
- Hardware Instruction Set Architecture
- Software Architecture
- Software APIs, including Programming Models, Compiler Intermediate Representations.
- Deployer documentation, including:
- System Deployment Guides
- Data sheets for hardware and systems
Who You Are
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent
- Possess outstanding Technical Documentation skills, preferably in both hardware and software
- Have 5-10 years of technical documentation experience
- Have experience with documentation of hardware (chips), software, and systems, preferably at a semiconductor company
- Have experience with various forms of documentation, including tools for API document generation (pydoc, rustdoc,...), markdown for readthedocs
- Ability to augment code (Rust/Python) with comments (pydoc,...) and generate documentation from code
- Experience with HW documentation, such as datasheets, Hardware documentation tools such as RDL, …
- Have experience integrating documentation from various sources into clear, cogent documentation with a uniform look and feel
- Experience using generative AI tools to generate and integrate documentation from multiple sources
- Have the ability to expand on existing documents, fill in gaps, and identify areas that need improvement
- Have the ability to work with engineers and translate from slide decks, technical notes, into documentation for various levels of readers: internal engineers, external developers, system deployers
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to track and follow up on documentation issues across multiple teams, and work with engineers to ensure issues get resolved
- Possess the ability to work in a dynamic environment with changing requirements and cross-team dependencies
- Have excellent verbal communication skills
- Are highly organized with strong attention to detail
- This is a hybrid role that will require you to work from our Mountain View, CA office 3 days a week on Tuesday through Thursday
