Biotechnology is rewriting life as we know it, from the medicines we take, to the crops we grow, the materials we wear, and the household goods that we rely on every day. But moving at the new speed of science requires better technology.
Benchling’s mission is to unlock the power of biotechnology. The world’s most innovative biotech companies use Benchling’s R&D Cloud to power the development of breakthrough products and accelerate time to milestone and market.
Come help us bring modern software to modern science.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Benchling is building a best-in-class GTM Enablement function to scale our revenue organization toward becoming the defining platform for biotech R&D. We're looking for our first Technical Enablement Lead—a scientist who understands what it's like to work at the bench and can translate that experience into training that helps our GTM organization win in the market.

As a Technical Enablement Lead, you'll bring the scientific credibility and technical depth our enablement team needs. You've done the science yourself—you know the pain points of manual data entry, disconnected systems, and compliance headaches that Benchling solves. Now you'll use that expertise to build product training, competitive intelligence, and enablement programs that accelerate how our GTM teams learn and sell. This is a high-impact builder role where your curiosity about both science and sales will define how Benchling's revenue organization masters our platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and deliver technical product training for Solution Consultants, Account Executives, SDRs, Partners, and others drawing on your bench experience to make Benchling's value tangible and credible
  • Author compelling product demonstration narratives connecting current state challenges to technical capabilities to ultimate business value and maintain the associated demo environment(s) to ensure quality and reliability for the field teams
  • Build ongoing enablement content (playbooks, objection handling guides, etc.) that translates R&D workflows you've lived through into business value for different buyer personas
  • Own competitive intelligence programs, including battlecards, competitor deep-dives, and win/loss analysis—leveraging your knowledge of Benchling and competitor products to help the field win
  • Partner with Product Marketing, Product Management, and Sales Leadership to develop enablement programs for new product launches, ensuring the field can effectively position and demo new capabilities
  • Deliver engaging live training sessions (virtual and in-person), workshops, and certification programs that build confidence and technical fluency across GTM teams
  • Create onboarding curriculum for new GTM hires that accelerates time to productivity, with focus on biotech R&D workflows, Benchling's platform architecture, and competitive landscape
  • Stay deeply curious about customer use cases, emerging scientific techniques, and how Benchling fits into the evolving R&D technology stack
  • Support the enablement team by assisting with the technical components of systems including Content Management, Learning Management, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Measure enablement impact through assessments, certification completion, and field feedback, iterating programs based on what drives revenue outcomes
QUALIFICATIONS
  • MSc or PhD in life sciences (molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, or related discipline)
  • 3+ years of hands-on bench scientist experience in biotech, biopharma, or academic research—you've lived the workflows Benchling is built to support
  • Deep knowledge of Benchling's platform and/or direct competitor products (Dotmatics, Revvity Signals, Sapio, etc.)
  • Demonstrated aptitude for selling or influencing—whether through scientific presentations, cross-functional collaboration, or customer-facing roles
  • Exceptional presentation and facilitation skills, with ability to make complex scientific concepts accessible and compelling
  • Intellectual curiosity and a drive to continuously learn about new scientific techniques, customer challenges, and GTM best practices
  • Ability to build enablement programs from scratch, including content creation and curriculum design for diverse audiences
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to work effectively with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success
  • Mastery of standard business tools such as Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint/Slides, etc.

Nice to have:

  • Prior work in enablement, training development, or instructional design
  • Track record of competitive intelligence work or supporting complex sales cycles
  • Familiarity with MEDDICC, Command of the Message, or other enterprise sales methodologies
  • Experience with enablement platforms (FlockJay, Highspot, Seismic, Lessonly) and learning management systems
