About OpenLoop

OpenLoop was co-founded by CEO, Dr. Jon Lensing, and COO, Christian Williams, with the vision to bring healing anywhere. Our tele-health support solutions are thoughtfully designed to streamline and simplify go-to-market care delivery for companies offering meaningful virtual support to patients across an expansive array of specialties, in all 50 states.

Our Company Culture

We have a relatively flat organizational structure here at OpenLoop. Everyone is encouraged to bring ideas to the table and make things happen. This fits in well with our core values of Autonomy, Competence and Belonging, as we want everyone to feel empowered and supported to do their best work.

About the Role

OpenLoop is looking for a Technical Lead to join our team remotely with an async-friendly culture. This role is part of Hey Revia, the AI technology company recently acquired by OpenLoop. As we integrate Hey Revia’s AI Contact Center and AI Care Engine into OpenLoop’s national telehealth platform, this position will be foundational in shaping the technical architecture that powers care delivery at scale.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading system architecture, enabling AI-driven workflows, and building the engineering foundations behind Hey Revia’s zero-retention, HIPAA-ready platform. You will serve as both a hands-on engineer and a technical leader as we scale AI capabilities across clinics, care teams, and nationwide virtual care operations.

What You'll Do

  • Architect distributed, compliant backend systems on GCP (Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, BigQuery)
  • Own system design decisions, including service boundaries, data schemas, and language tradeoffs (Go, Python, TypeScript)
  • Lead integration and orchestration of AI models, including open-source LLMs, embeddings, and speech pipelines
  • Optimize prompts, evaluations, and agent behavior using tools like LangFuse
  • Drive observability: event-driven ingestion, tracing, automated QA for call transcripts and EHR data (FHIR/Medplum)
  • Act as a player-coach: contribute to core code paths while mentoring engineers
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Clinical Ops to align technical strategy
  • Champion reliability, compliance (HIPAA/SOC2), and scalable engineering practices
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years as a Tech Lead or team lead
  • Expert-level skill in at least one of Go, Python, or TypeScript/Node, with ability to review full-stack code
  • Deep experience building distributed systems, containerized deployments (Docker, k8s, Cloud Run), and event-driven architectures
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs: open-source model hosting (vLLM, Ollama), embeddings, and RAG design
  • Familiarity with regulated domains (HIPAA, SOC 2) and/or healthcare data standards (FHIR, HL7)
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to turn complexity into crisp RFCs and clear direction
  • Bias toward action with comfort in fast-paced, high-ownership engineering environments
 Our Benefits

In addition, for salaried positions you would also be eligible for:

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision plans
  • Flexible Spending/Health Savings Accounts
  • Flexible PTO
  • 401(k) + Company Match
  • Life Insurance, Pet insurance, and more

Sound like a good fit? We’d love to meet you.

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
