DIRECTV is seeking a Technical Product Manager - Principal 1, Digital Products (SAFe) to join our team! 

The Technical Product Manager - Principal 1, Digital Products (SAFe) is a product leader responsible for defining, delivering, and evolving DIRECTV online service products that support business and IT objectives. This role bridges business stakeholders and technical teams, translating business goals into scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong product management fundamentals with a solid technical understanding of the Online platform, including configuration, integrations, data models, and release management. This role supports the strategic direction of functional areas by translating priorities into a multi-quarter roadmap and a well-managed backlog. They partner with cross-functional leaders, business stakeholders, and external partners to help the organization meet targets and IOP goals. This role is responsible for ensuring requirements rigor and traceability at the solution level while driving alignment between business needs and technical execution. This role defines and owns features within an Agile Release Train (ART) and coordinates with partner teams/ARTs as needed to manage dependencies. Principal 1 TPM supports impact and feasibility analyses, helps shape trade-offs, and uses data and feedback loops to drive measurable outcomes. 

Here's what you'll do: 

Requirements Management and Strategic Alignment 

  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define use cases, and prioritize features based on value, risk, and effort. 
  • Ensure requirements’ rigor, traceability, and readiness at the solution level across teams and releases. 
  • Validate that all requirements tie to business strategy and organizational objectives. 
  • Translate business strategy into actionable product requirements and technical specifications. 
  • Translate business needs into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical requirements. 
  • Collaborate closely with Developers, Architects, and QA teams to deliver solutions end-to-end. 
  • Maintain comprehensive traceability matrices and enforce requirements quality standards. 

Impact and Feasibility Analysis 

  • Conduct comprehensive impact and feasibility assessments for proposed features and capabilities. 
  • Develop cost-benefit analyses, ROI projections, and KPI forecasts for strategic initiatives. 
  • Assess resource requirements, timelines, risks, and technical dependencies across systems. 
  • Evaluate technical, operational, and business viability of complex solution implementations.

Business Outcome Evaluation 

  • Evaluate potential outcomes using business KPIs, OKRs, and performance metrics. 
  • Establish and monitor feedback loops to measure product success and business impact. 
  • Define success criteria and track product performance against business objectives. 
  • Adjust product strategy based on measured results and changing business needs. 

Stakeholder Collaboration and Trade-offs 

  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to resolve ambiguities and clarify requirements. 
  • Facilitate strategic discussions to shape trade-offs between competing priorities. 
  • Build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups on product direction and decisions. 
  • Communicate complex product concepts and recommendations to executive stakeholders. 

Feature Ownership and Cross-Team Coordination 

  • Define and own features or capabilities within an Agile Release Train, coordinating with partner ARTs when needed. 
  • Coordinate across teams to ensure alignment and synchronized delivery of dependencies. 
  • Help identify and resolve technical dependencies across complex systems and multiple teams. 
  • Participate in PI Planning and dependency management sessions; support coordination and follow-through. 

Roadmap and Backlog Development 

  • Contribute to the product vision and roadmap; own and manage a well-prioritized backlog.
  • Support roadmap planning that aligns with Enterprise goals and objectives. 
  • Help create quarterly and multi-quarter product plans with clear milestones and deliverables. 
  • Communicate plans and progress effectively to stakeholders at all organizational levels. 
  • Balance short-term delivery with longer-term roadmap considerations. 

Here's what you'll need to be successful: 

Experience 

  • 3 – 5 years of progressive experience in technical product management, business analysis, or related roles. 
  • Experience leading or co-leading initiatives with moderate scope and delivering measurable business outcomes. 
  • Experience working in Agile environments; familiarity with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is a plus. 
  • Experience owning features/backlog for one or more teams; ability to coordinate dependencies with partner teams/ARTs as needed. 

Product Management and Agile Expertise 

  • Solid understanding of product lifecycle management, requirements gathering, and traceability. 
  • Working knowledge of SAFe principles and Program Increment (PI) planning; experience. participating in PI Planning and backlog refinement. 
  • Experience with feature definition, prioritization, and managing dependencies across teams. 
  • Ability to contribute to product roadmaps and quarterly planning; communicates trade-offs clearly. 

Analytical and Technical Skills 

  • Strong analytical skills to support impact and feasibility analysis, including basic cost-benefit evaluation. 
  • Comfortable defining success metrics and analyzing product performance; KPI forecasting experience is a plus. 
  • Technical aptitude with understanding of software development fundamentals and system architecture concepts. 
  • Ability to evaluate technical feasibility and integration considerations in partnership with engineering and architecture. 

Business and Strategic Acumen 

  • Understanding of how product decisions impact customer experience and business outcomes. 
  • Experience aligning product work to business goals and operational priorities. 
  • Familiarity with business KPIs, OKRs, and performance measurement frameworks. 
  • Ability to contribute to business cases and provide data to support prioritization; ROI analysis experience is a plus. 

Communication and Leadership 

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to influence through collaboration and data. 
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting to managers and cross-functional audiences. 
  • Ability to resolve ambiguities, clarify requirements, and build alignment among diverse stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving execution within defined scope; escalates risks and decisions appropriately. 

Problem-Solving 

  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex and ambiguous problems, using structured approaches. 
  • Collaborates across business, engineering, and operations to deliver sound outcomes. 
  • Sound judgment in making decisions within scope, with awareness of downstream impact. 
  • Resourceful and adaptable when solutions are not well defined. 

Education and Certifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). 
  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) certification preferred; willingness to obtain is a plus. 
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar Agile certification is a plus.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

DIRECTV WAGE ZONES $111,122 - $201,653

Low (N1): $111,122 - $166,583

Mid (N2): $116,970 - $175,350

High (N3): $128,667 - $192,885

Top (N4): $134,516 - $201,653
