As a Technical Product Manager focused on Insurance Billing, you’ll lead the development, enhancement, and operational success of the Billing modules within our insurance policy technology platforms, with a strong emphasis on Duck Creek Billing.
You’ll partner closely with Business Owners, Engineering, Design, Finance, and Operations to deliver scalable, compliant, and customer-centric billing and payments capabilities. This role requires deep domain expertise in P&C insurance billing workflows, strong technical fluency, and proven experience owning product outcomes in a Duck Creek environment.

What You’ll Do
Product Strategy & Roadmap
- Own the product vision and roadmap for Insurance Billing, aligning business objectives with platform capabilities and technical constraints.
- Drive prioritization across features, enhancements, regulatory needs, defect remediation, and modernization efforts.
- Evaluate vendor capabilities, Duck Creek roadmap items, and emerging billing/payment technologies to inform product strategy.
Billing Domain Ownership
- Serve as the product expert for Duck Creek Billing, including invoicing, payment processing, adjustments, refunds, write-offs, and delinquency workflows.
- Partner with Finance, Accounting, and Operations to ensure billing functionality supports downstream financial processes and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with insurance regulations, billing standards, and audit requirements across states and products.
Requirements & Feature Development
- Translate complex billing business requirements into clear, developer-ready features, and acceptance criteria, grounded in Duck Creek configuration and extension patterns.
- Lead discovery with internal users and SMEs to identify billing pain points and validate solutions.
- Define integration requirements between Duck Creek Billing and payment gateways, general ledger systems, customer portals, and downstream platforms.
Backlog & Delivery Management
- Own and groom the billing backlog, balancing new capabilities, enhancements, and technical debt.
- Work closely with Engineering and QA throughout design, build, testing, and release to ensure high-quality delivery.
- Actively participate in sprint planning, grooming, demos, and retrospectives.
Technical Alignment
- Ensure billing solutions are designed in alignment with Duck Creek best practices, architectural standards, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Partner with both the business and engineering to assess tradeoffs between configuration vs customization within Duck Creek Billing.
- Stay current on Duck Creek product updates, release notes, and platform capabilities.
User Experience & Adoption
- Advocate for intuitive billing experiences for both internal users and policyholders.
- Support change management, documentation, and training to ensure successful rollout and adoption of billing features.
Performance & Metrics
- Define and track KPIs related to billing accuracy, payment success rates, cycle times, operational efficiency, and customer impact.
- Use data and insights to inform prioritization and continuous improvement.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a billing product expert and trusted advisor to stakeholders.
- Navigate ambiguity and complex tradeoffs, providing clear product direction and decision-making.
This might describe you
- 5+ years of product management experience, with direct ownership of P&C insurance billing systems.
- Hands-on experience with Duck Creek Billing in a product management or product owner capacity.
- Proven involvement in at least one Duck Creek Billing implementation, migration, or major enhancement, including requirements definition through delivery.
- Strong understanding of P&C insurance billing concepts, including invoicing cycles, payment plans, adjustments, cancellations, reinstatements, and refunds.
- Experience working with integrations between Duck Creek Billing and payment processors, finance/GL systems, and customer-facing applications.
- Exposure to SOX controls and audit requirements, particularly as they relate to billing, payments, financial reporting, and system change management.
- Ability to translate complex billing and financial requirements into technical solutions.
- Experience working in agile delivery environments with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Duck Creek Policy or Claims in addition to Billing.
- Exposure to SaaS-based Duck Creek implementations.
- Familiarity with payment gateways, PCI considerations, or billing-related compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting multi-state or multi-product insurance billing models.

- May require travel for quarterly events.
- Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
