About Goodfire

Goodfire is a research company using interpretability to understand, learn from, and design AI systems. Our mission is to build the next generation of safe and powerful AI—not by scaling alone, but by understanding the intelligence we're building.
Scaling has proven powerful, but today's approach is fundamentally limited: we can't meaningfully understand, debug, or shape what models learn. Every engineering discipline has been gated by fundamental science and AI is at that inflection point now.

We're advancing the science of how AI systems actually work. Treating models as black boxes is an unnecessary handicap—we have access to the structures inside them, and understanding those structures lets us steer what models learn, make them safer and more useful, and extract the vast knowledge they contain. Our goal is to make AI that can be understood, debugged, and shaped like software.

Goodfire is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco with a team of the world’s top interpretability researchers and engineers from organizations like OpenAI and DeepMind. We're backed by over $200M from B Capital, Menlo Ventures, Lightspeed, Eric Schmidt, and others.

About the role

We're looking for a Technical Product Marketing Manager to help explain what Goodfire makes possible to the AI researchers, ML engineers, technical executives, and frontier model builders who need to understand, evaluate, and improve the systems they are building. This role demands a rare combination: the technical depth to understand interpretability and modern AI workflows, the product judgment to clarify what matters to users, and the writing ability to turn complex ideas into crisp narratives, demos, launches, and field materials.

This is a high-ownership role where you will sit at the center of product, research, field, and go-to-market. You will translate Goodfire's technical work into product positioning, launch narratives, technical content, demo stories, sales enablement, and customer-facing proof points that make interpretability feel concrete, useful, and urgent.

Our audience is deeply technical. You'll need to be rigorous enough to earn trust with practitioners and clear enough to help executives understand why Goodfire is critical.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own technical product positioning: define how Goodfire's platform, capabilities, and use cases are explained to ML engineers, AI researchers, CTOs, Heads of AI, and technical buyers
  • Translate research into product narratives: work with research, product, and engineering to turn research breakthroughs into clear customer-facing stories, demos, launches, and use-case materials
  • Drive product launches: plan and execute launches for new platform capabilities, research milestones, customer proof points, and vertical-specific offerings
  • Build field enablement: create decks, demo narratives, technical one-pagers, FAQs, objection handling, case studies, and other materials that help AEs, Field Team members, and partners win technical buyers
  • Develop technical market intelligence: understand buyer workflows, customer pain points, competitive alternatives, and emerging AI development patterns, then feed that signal back into product and GTM strategy
What you’ll bringRequired experience
  • Strong ability to understand technical products and explain them clearly to both practitioners and executive audiences.
  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with examples of launches, technical content, product narratives, demos, or sales materials that moved a market or customer conversation.
  • Strong product judgment; you can identify what matters, simplify without dumbing down, and make complex workflows feel concrete.
  • Experience collaborating closely with research, product, engineering, sales, and customer-facing technical teams.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment
  • Experience working with state of the art AI models
  • Prior experience creating content for technical or enterprise audiences
  • Familiarity with interpretability techniques and SOTA tooling for AI model
Our values

Goodfire is looking for individuals who embody our values and share our deep commitment to making interpretability accessible. We are building a team first and foremost.

Take ownership and initiative

There are no bystanders here. We proactively identify problems and take full responsibility over getting a strong result. We are self-driven, own our mistakes, and feel deep responsibility over what we’re building.

Action today

We have a small amount of time to do something incredibly hard and meaningful. The pace and intensity of the organization is high. If we can take action today or tomorrow, we will choose to do it today.

Where we work

We are hiring for this position in our San Francisco HQ. We are in person 5 days a week, with one company-wide remote week per month.

What we offer

This role offers market competitive salary, equity, and competitive benefits.
The expected salary range for this position is $175,000 - $300,000 USD

Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to join a vital mission at an important point in its trajectory — we are developing groundbreaking technology with a world-class team on the critical path to ensuring a safe and beneficial future for humanity. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
