Lead cross-functional teams for Infotainment projects, manage schedules, align resources, and communicate progress while mitigating risks.
The Advanced Hardware Engineering (AHE) team at Zoox is at the heart of our mission, responsible for the autonomous hardware, infotainment units, and electrical components that power our ground-up vehicle fleet. We are a team that thrives on end-to-end ownership—we don’t just build hardware; we ensure our sensors provide the high-quality data our autonomy and safety systems depend on. Our culture is built on collaboration, supportive risk-taking, and a "One Zoox" mindset. In this role, you will have the opportunity to solve some of the most challenging problems in robotics while scaling your impact within a fast-moving, execution-oriented environment. We value growth and are dedicated to supporting your development as you help us make cities safer and more sustainable.
In this role, you will:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of eight Technical Program Managers, fostering a culture of accountability and resilience.
- Navigate program ambiguity to create clarity around milestones, deliverables, and cross-functional dependencies.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of complex sensor engineering programs (Lidar, Radar, and Cameras) from initial definition through mass production and field resolution.
- Drive the program strategy for sensor integration and contamination mitigation, ensuring the system V-model is executed effectively alongside Perception and System Design teams.
- Manage the interdependencies between systems engineering and functional safety to ensure seamless execution across the hardware and software stack.
- Partner with the AHE Directors of Sensors and Systems Engineering to define resource requirements and manage program budgets in collaboration with Finance and Procurement.
- Provide concise and effective communication to senior leadership regarding program status, risks, and strategic accomplishments.
- Identify and resolve systemic organizational impediments to improve team velocity and product quality.
Qualifications
- At least 15 years of experience in technical program management, including at least 5 years of experience managing and mentoring teams of TPMs or engineers.
- Technical expertise in the development lifecycle of complex hardware and software systems within the robotics, automotive, or aerospace industries.
- Experience managing programs compliant with industry functional safety standards, such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508.
- Ability to remain flexible and proactive in the face of uncertainty, breaking down ambiguous problems into actionable plans.
- BS or MS degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience working within the autonomous vehicle industry or the broader automotive space.
- Experience managing external suppliers to deliver complex products from conception to mass production.
- Deep understanding of Systems Engineering principles, including requirements management, traceability, and architecture trade-offs.
