As the Technical Project Manager for Vehicle Attributes Hardware, you are a seasoned project manager and cross-functional team member who will be responsible for planning and execution of technical and integrated product milestones for our vehicle platforms on our path to launch. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, software, safety, operations, manufacturing, and systems integration teams to structure, plan, and execute milestones to achieve our company goals. You have experience with complex automotive HW/SW systems engineering and integration and with leading cross-functional teams to solve critical issues and deliver on the ambitious attribute goals for Safety and Operational Strength of our vehicle platform.
We are seeking a seasoned Technical Project Manager to lead cross-functional initiatives for the Vehicle Attributes department, focusing on hardware focused attributes for crash safety and operational strength and durability. You will drive the development, validation, and integration of critical vehicle structural systems that ensure our autonomous vehicles meet the highest safety and durability standards.
In this role, you will:- Lead end-to-end project execution for crash safety and operational strength attribute development from concept through production
- Coordinate across Engineering, Safety, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Testing teams to deliver solutions that meet vehicle structural requirements
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation for crash testing programs and durability validation activities
- Drive resolution of technical issues related to crashworthiness, structural integrity, and durability performance
- Establish and track key performance indicators for crash and strength attributes against vehicle targets
- Facilitate test reviews, risk assessments, and benchmark studies
- Manage relationships with external suppliers, testing facilities, and regulatory bodies
- Develop and maintain project documentation including schedules, status reports, and technical specifications
- Identify program risks and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track
- Support regulatory compliance efforts for FMVSS crash standards and strength and durability requirements
RequirementsQualifications
- BS or MS degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in engineering, project management, or management consulting with a focus on automotive product development
- Strong understanding of vehicle testing especially crash safety and strength and durability testing.
- Comfortable leading through ambiguity and enabling teams to perform in this environment
- Proficient in project management tools or processes required to manage complex projects (i.e., Gantt chart, risk matrix, Smartsheet, Polarion, Jira, etc.)
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Jira, etc.)
- Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills are a must, ability to create visualizations of KPIs and project risks
- Project Manager Professional certification (PMP) or equivalent
- Experience with autonomous vehicles, test platforms, simulation, and automotive or aerospace processes is highly desired
- Experience with aluminum or composite vehicle structures
- Experience with developing and scaling strategy, processes, plans, procedures, reporting, and handling escalations
- Experience with Catia/3DX is beneficial
