About Us

Optimum is delivering the world's first Decentralized Web3 Internet Protocol for any blockchain. Powered by Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC), Optimum scales network speed, robustness and throughput by orders of magnitude.

Co-founded by Muriel Médard, co-inventor of RLNC, and a team of industry experts, Optimum introduces a breakthrough in Web3 infrastructure. Blockchains—often called world computers—lack a critical component for infinite scalability: a real-time virtual memory.

Our memory infrastructure enables high-speed data propagation, fast access, and secure updates, scaling the world computer. Backers include 1kx, Spartan, Robot Ventures, Finality Capital, Triton Capital (fka Kraken Ventures), CMT Digital, SNZ and others.

Role Overview

We're seeking a Technical Project Manager who can embed with the product and engineering team, driving sprint execution, internal stakeholder communication, and delivery — so engineers can stay heads-down on hard problems. In a lean team, this role also carries product responsibility: owning prioritization logic, shaping specs, and maintaining a coherent roadmap that connects protocol research to shipped infrastructure. This is a highly cross-functional role working across engineering, protocol research, customer success, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sprint planning & execution: run bi-weekly sprints, own the Linear project board, break down epics into actionable issues, and track velocity.

  • Linear/GitHub Issues & Milestones: triage incoming bugs and feature requests, maintain milestone health, and ensure issues are well-scoped with clear acceptance criteria.

  • Calls & follow-ups: run standups, planning sessions, and stakeholder syncs; own meeting notes and action items to completion.

  • Cross-team coordination: serve as the communication bridge between engineering, protocol research, and external partners (relay operators, validator clients, devs)

  • Release management: coordinate release windows, track ADRs progress (Architecture Decision Records), and maintain the release changelog.

  • Risk & blockers: surface blockers early, escalate when needed, and keep the critical path visible.

Role Requirements
  • 6+ years of technical project or product management experience in Web3 infrastructure-heavy environments

  • Experience collaborating directly with engineers and product managers

  • Web3 / crypto familiarity (validators, node operators, staking, incentives)

  • Strong execution, organization, and coordination with globally distributed teams skills

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Located in or willing to align working hours with the Central European or Eastern Time Zone (CET/ET)

  • Strong interest in product management as this role has the strong potential to grow in product scope over time

Nice To Have
  • Experience working with engineering teams in a globally distributed, remote first environment

  • Deep technical understanding of distributed systems, networking protocols, or data storage infrastructure.

  • Experience with Linear or any project management/issue-tracking tool

What We Offer
  • Competitive compensation package, including token incentives.

  • Remote-first environment with flexible hours.

  • High ownership role with real influence on protocol success.

  • Close collaboration with world-class researchers and protocol engineers.

Don’t Meet Every Requirement?

We still encourage you to apply. If you’ve developed and led technical education programs in infrastructure-heavy environments, we’d love to hear from you.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
