About the Company:

General Matter enriches uranium.
We are designing, building, and operating the world's lowest-cost enrichment services, here in the US.
In the process, we are restoring America's ability to produce nuclear fuel to power AI, advanced manufacturing and critical industries our country relies on to remain competitive.
Fuel drives the cost of advanced reactor electricity production, and enrichment drives the cost of the fuel that advanced reactors consume. Reliable, low-cost enrichment is the catalyst for the nuclear Renaissance now under way.
Our mission is to make nuclear not only the cleanest and safest source of baseload power, but also the most affordable. We believe abundant nuclear energy will lead to a post-scarcity society.
We were incubated inside Founders Fund, like Anduril and Palantir before us, and are backed by over a dozen of the world's top venture capital firms.
Our lean, world-class team of engineers and operators is applying a first-principles approach to solving the problem of nuclear fuel production.
We are a mission-driven company with a culture of urgency, accountability, and transparency.
Help us build a high-energy society by making the cleanest, safest form of baseload energy the most affordable.

About This Role

America is building its next uranium enrichment facility, and the people we hire in the next few years will decide whether it gets built. As a Technical Recruiter at General Matter, you'll find, win, and close the engineers, builders, and operators behind it.

You'll join a lean, high-impact talent acquisition team and own full-cycle recruiting for interdisciplinary roles across the company, including mechanical engineering, hardware design, test, manufacturing, construction, nuclear engineering, and supply chain. Every step is yours: intake, sourcing, screening, and closing. You'll work directly with engineering leaders, and your judgment on who is exceptional will shape the company.

We are building a team that has not only launched products, but launched entire industries across nuclear, space, defense, and finance. If you've recruited hardware engineers in aerospace, defense, or other hard-tech environments, this role puts that experience to work on a mission of national importance.

If you enjoy Skunkworks-style projects, value autonomy and ownership, and are passionate about building world-class engineering teams, we encourage you to apply to join our team.

We are open to multiple experience levels. We care about capability, drive, and impact more than years of experience, and scope and responsibility will be commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Own full-cycle technical recruiting for hardware engineering, manufacturing, and operational roles, from intake to close.
  • Act as a key business partner to engineering leaders and hiring managers, including:
    • Provide market insight and quickly calibrate on what top talent looks like for each role.
    • Refine interview processes to drive strong hiring outcomes.
  • Design and run sourcing strategies for mechanical, hardware, and manufacturing talent that go beyond Boolean searches, including events, networking, and other creative approaches.
  • Conduct initial interviews that assess technical ability, excellence, and cultural alignment, with strong interview-to-offer results.
  • Deliver a candidate experience that reflects General Matter's mission and high-performance culture.
  • Track and analyze recruiting metrics, and use them to improve our process and drive operational excellence.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of recruiting experience (academic, internships, and extracurriculars at university level qualify); OR associate degree and 3+ years of experience; OR 4+ years of professional recruiting experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and clearly explain value to both candidates and hiring teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities with autonomy.
  • A high bar for personal accountability, consistently delivering quality results with speed, ownership, and attention to detail.
  • Strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information and advising on hiring decisions.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience recruiting mechanical and hardware engineers (e.g., design, structures, propulsion, manufacturing, test, and integration) at high-growth aerospace, defense, space, automotive, or other hard-tech companies, either in-house or at an agency.
  • Full-lifecycle recruiting experience, from sourcing to close.
  • Success hiring for highly specialized or niche roles such as building architects, chemical engineers, nuclear licensing engineers, or other technical experts.
  • Ability to tell the top 50% from the top 5% of talent in their field.
  • Expertise in non-standard recruiting methods: cold calling candidates and companies, organizing networking events, identifying industry experts, and building targeted sourcing campaigns.
  • Deep motivation to restore U.S. fuel enrichment capability and strengthen national energy security.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • This position is based in Los Angeles and requires being onsite full-time – hybrid and remote work will not be considered.

Compensation and Benefits:

The base salary range for this role is $100,000–$180,000 annually.
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and may be adjusted based on market conditions, business needs, or other factors. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
