About Canals

Canals builds software for wholesale distributors, helping them operate more efficiently through automation and AI.

Our customers are the companies responsible for moving the materials that power the real economy; electrical supplies, plumbing products, roofing materials, HVAC equipment, and more. Every day, thousands of people rely on Canals to help process orders, manage purchasing, handle accounts payable, and streamline critical business workflows.

We're a profitable, rapidly growing company with a team of roughly 100 people distributed across North and South America. We care deeply about building great products, hiring exceptional people, and creating an environment where talented individuals can do the best work of their careers.

The Role

We're hiring a Technical Recruiter to join a small but high-performing talent team and help us continue scaling Canals.

This is a true recruiting generalist role. You'll work across engineering, product, design, operations, customer success, and go-to-market hiring depending on where the business needs support most. One week you might be building a search for a senior backend engineer. The next, you could be helping close a product manager or partnering with leadership on a new hiring initiative.

You'll be responsible for generating top-of-funnel talent through outbound sourcing, referrals, networking, events, and inbound candidates. You'll conduct thoughtful first-round interviews that effectively assess talent while getting candidates excited about the opportunity. You'll partner closely with hiring managers, provide market insight, help improve recruiting processes, and play a meaningful role in shaping how we build teams.

This is a challenging environment. We hire quickly, we hire selectively, and we expect recruiters to think critically rather than simply execute a process. Success here requires adaptability, strong judgment, curiosity, and the ability to learn new domains quickly.

The upside is that recruiting is viewed as one of the most important functions in the company. You'll have direct access to leadership, significant ownership, honest feedback, strong mentorship, and the opportunity to grow quickly as the company scales.

We're building teams that will define the future of Canals, and recruiting plays a central role in that mission.

What You'll Do
  • Generate top-of-funnel talent through sourcing, referrals, networking, inbound applicants, and creative outbound strategies.

  • Conduct high-quality recruiter screens that evaluate talent while creating enthusiasm for Canals.

  • Partner closely with hiring managers to understand hiring needs, calibrate talent, and provide market feedback.

  • Manage candidates throughout the interview process, ensuring a high-quality experience from first conversation through offer.

  • Build expertise across a wide variety of functions and quickly adapt to new roles and hiring challenges.

  • Continuously improve recruiting processes, tooling, outreach strategies, and candidate experience.

  • Help close exceptional candidates and represent Canals in a thoughtful, authentic, and compelling way.

  • Contribute to a culture of high standards, direct feedback, continuous learning, and teamwork.

What You'll Bring
  • Ideally 4–6+ years of recruiting experience, with significant experience recruiting technical talent.

  • Exceptional sourcing ability and the ability to quickly break down unfamiliar positions into effective search strategies.

  • Strong interviewing skills and the judgment to identify both standout talent and potential red flags.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly, retain information, and develop expertise across multiple domains.

  • Strong prioritization skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.

  • Comfort receiving direct feedback and a desire to continuously improve your craft.

  • A high degree of ownership, accountability, and personal standards.

  • Confidence speaking up when something can be improved and willingness to challenge ideas constructively.

  • Presence, energy, and the ability to build genuine relationships with candidates and hiring managers.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is hardworking, thoughtful, adaptable, and excited to become exceptional at recruiting.

Why Join Canals
  • We're building software that solves real problems for an industry that keeps the world running. Our customers rely on our platform every day to operate their businesses.

  • We've found strong product-market fit and continue to grow quickly, creating opportunities for people who want to have a meaningful impact on the trajectory of a company.

  • We believe great people build great companies. That's why we invest heavily in hiring, development, and creating an environment where talented individuals can do the best work of their careers.

  • You'll work alongside ambitious, thoughtful teammates who care deeply about what they do, challenge each other directly, and have a lot of fun along the way.

  • We value ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement. Good ideas can come from anywhere, and people are trusted to make things happen.

  • We're remote-first, flexible, and distributed across North and South America, bringing together talented people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
