Who you are:
You’re a highly technical, customer-facing problem-solver who thrives at the intersection of controls engineering and software. You enjoy helping sales team members and prospects understand complex technical ideas and translating those into practical, executable outcomes. You’re comfortable in industrial automation environments (PLCs, HMIs, OT networks, etc.) and excited about helping customers evaluate and adopt modern tooling that improves their workflows.
As a Technical Solutions Engineer at Copia, you’ll enable our sales organization to move faster, deliver demos, and elevate the quality of technical conversations with prospects.

What you'll do:
- Partner with sales team members to support opportunities from early discovery through close
- Deliver compelling product demonstrations tailored to industrial automation use cases
- Conduct technical discovery sessions to understand prospect environments, requirements, and constraints
- Assist with technical architecture discussions (networking, security, deployment options)
- Maintain competitive awareness and help position Copia against alternative solutions
- Identify and communicate technical risks early in the deal cycle
- Capture deal-driven requirements and share structured feedback with Product and Engineering
- Partner with Product to validate requirements and provide input on feature prioritization based on revenue impact
- Assist with creation and delivery of internal sales enablement sessions on product capabilities and technical messaging
- Document technical findings from discovery and ensure consistent internal handoff notes
What you'll need:
- 3+ years experience in a technical, customer-facing role (Solutions Engineering, Technical Sales, Controls/Application Engineering, etc.)
- Strong understanding of industrial automation technologies and workflows
- Experience with tools such as Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, or equivalent
- Comfortable presenting live demos and engaging with prospects of varying technical backgrounds
- Ability to run structured discovery conversations and ask strong technical follow-up questions
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple opportunities and prioritize effectively
- Experience navigating complex stakeholder groups (controls, IT, cybersecurity, engineering leadership)
- Excellent communication skills and technical intuition
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Sales
Nice to have:
- Experience as a controls engineer
- Experience supporting technical buying processes
- Experience working with remote/hybrid teams
- Familiarity with version control (Git) or software development workflows
- Familiarity with OT backup and disaster recovery tools
- Background in OT networking and security discussions
- Familiarity with Hubspot CRM
