TITLE: Technology Specialist
LOCATION: CALIFORNIA (Hybrid)

This is a hybrid position. It is mostly remote, but we are looking for someone who can also work on-site in one of our locations in Oakland, Yuba-Sutter, or Long Beach, and can travel to other sites as needed.

Innovation Baseball (“IBP”) seeks a full-time Technology Specialist to help us with a mix of Information Technology, Digital Marketing, and Systems Administration. IBP is an ownership group and operating company building a portfolio of independent minor league baseball teams. We believe in the magic of baseball as a force for good. The teams in our portfolio play high-quality baseball while making strong contributions to their communities, drawing from a spirit of innovation, entertainment, and civic pride.

The Technology Specialist will report to our CTO and also have direct relationships with the General Managers and Marketing Directors for multiple baseball teams. The goals of our small technology department are to efficiently empower our fellow employees and our customers with technology, to safeguard our customer and corporate data, to bring joy to our customers, and to build sustainable sports businesses in the communities we serve.

Work streams for the role:

  • Information Technology – helpdesk, trouble shooting, device management on-boarding, user on-boarding and off-boarding.
  • Web Development – making WYSIWYG web edits, HTML + CSS edits, and occasional javascript.
  • Systems Administration – helping co-workers with user-access-management for a variety of systems (zoom, asana.com, canva, slack, ticketing, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Work hand-in-hand with the CTO on technology projects.
  • Travel and on-site installation of IT equipment (transport, position, install, remove: computers, routers, switches, equipment racks, power supplies, ethernet cables, cable-ties, etc) - 5% to 25% time travel.
  • Learn how to administer and troubleshoot every software system used in the organization and provide application support to staff for those applications.
  • Configure and administer marketing technology systems.
  • Manage user-access-changes to digital systems, and on-board and off-board staff and contractors to and from our digital systems.
  • Assist marketing professionals in updating websites, especially if more intermediate or advanced layouts or functionality is required.
  • Create and share training materials on our intranet.
  • Monitor and handle helpdesk tickets, providing timely service to co-workers for common IT issues.
  • Use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to resize and web-optimize images for use in websites and email campaigns.
  • Enforce and evangelize best practices for IT, data security, and file system organization and file naming, throughout the organization.
  • Respond to reports of digital and physical breaches, thefts, loss, and other threats.
  • Assist co-workers with their spreadsheets, formulas, pivot tables, filter-views, top-sheets, etc.
  • Configure out-of-the-box integrations between software systems using existing marketplace apps and tools.
  • Assist finance, business, and marketing staff with data exports and imports.
  • Ensure that customer, client, sponsor, transaction, and media systems of record are maintained, secured, and utilize accurate tagging and classifications.
  • Assist on internal software development projects, and learn new skills in Typescript, Node, Postgres, and other software development tools.
  • Other tasks as assigned by your manager and GMs.

Qualifications / Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in IT, web/software development, or digital marketing
  • Demonstrated interest in logic, systems-thinking, labelling, and categorization.
  • Obsessively detail oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn software systems
  • Passion for learning and experimentation
  • Professional or educational experience in at least one of the following: teaching, customer service, helpdesk support, public speaking, or improv comedy.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.


Compensation

  • Salary of $70,000 to $90,000, annually, depending on experience, qualifications and geographic considerations
