Job Summary

The Territory Sales Manager I manages Vermeer activities in their assigned areas and provides quality support to dealers in those territories by determining dealer sales and marketing needs. This role has extensive responsibility in the field maintaining and managing the dealer business relationship, inventory management and managing dealer and customer issues.

What You'll Do 

1. Serve as a liaison with Vermeer to communicate dealer activities and issues back to the Company; serve as a liaison for all business-to-business activities; support and communicate Company policies that are to be performed by the dealers. 

2. Manage the dealer network relationship including coordinating dealer support from Vermeer departments, interviewing and recommending new dealers, establishing / communicating Vermeer dealer objectives, addressing problem dealers/dealerships, finding opportunities to sign up new dealers and terminating underperforming dealers. 

3. Establish strategic marketing plans for each dealer; assist by providing resources to achieve these goals, ensuring they are making adjustments to meet goals; analyze strengths and weaknesses to help them capitalize and improve processes; compile information in the territory about competitive dealers. 

4. Provide assistance and/or manage difficult customer and business situations encountered by the dealers; provide assistance to dealers to offer support and answer questions and solve problems. 

5. Attend and support dealers at farm shows, open house events and demonstration days; perform sales calls with dealers to help them increase sales; promote sales and sell equipment to dealers; ensure projects/customer orders are completed on time. 

6. Conduct training for dealers in the areas of sales, service, finance and product knowledge; continuously be available to customers to answer questions in regards to these areas; increase dealers’ knowledge of Vermeer equipment as well as that of the competition. 

7. Forecast sales, manage field inventory levels and report back to production via the sales manager; oversee ordering and delivery of equipment and manage transfer process of equipment from dealer to dealer. Inspect dealer inventory to ensure sales status, quality and order accuracy. 

 

What We're Looking For 

- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture business / mechanization with minimum three years sales experience; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. 

- Experience in the agriculture equipment industry and management preferred. 

- Increased knowledge in heavy agricultural equipment, staying abreast of the latest trends, customer needs and competitor information in agricultural equipment such as tractor and hay equipment.   

- Knowledge of basic mechanics and technology as it relates to heavy agriculture equipment; ability to operate agricultural equipment. 

- Effective management skills of dealers’ operations including ability to attain sales goals, inventory management, and attainment of acceptable dealers’ performance metrics. 

- Selling skills and the ability to meet sales goals. 

- General business knowledge including finance, personnel, customer relations, accounting, computer skills and marketing; solid understanding of financial reporting tools, e.g., financial statements, pricing sheets, budgets, etc. 

- Provision of informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers; demonstration of a good attitude. 

- Maintenance of positive interpersonal relationships that encourage openness with dealers, customers and peers; ability to handle complaints. 

- Demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

- Demonstration of strong organizational skills. 

- Ability to work with dealers in the attainment of Company’s business goals. 

- Ability to develop interpersonal relationships with co-workers, staff, clients and the community to meet or exceed expectations. 

 

Travel 

- Significant travel is expected of this position.   

Candidates must reside in or near the Texas/Oklahoma are or demonstrate willingness to relocate, in order to effectively service the territory.

Work Location

REMOTE: A team member’s day-to-day work may be best completed from a location other than a Vermeer campus. There will be instances where the work requires time spent on a Vermeer campus. Discuss specific arrangements with your manager. Remote team members are eligible for business-related reimbursements per the work location policy.
