As the Trade Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring StandardAero’s compliance with global import/export regulations, trade laws, and economic sanctions applicable to aerospace maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations. This role serves as a key advisor to Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Legal, and Government Contracts teams, enabling compliant and efficient cross-border movement of aircraft parts, engines, tooling, and technical data.  Lead compliance programs, manage and support international opportunities and transactions, interpret regulatory requirements, and drive continuous improvement across StandardAero’s global trade compliance framework.

Location: Hybrid in San Antonio, TX, Dallas, TX, Cincinnati, OH, or Miami, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Broomfield, CO, Stockton, CA, Kansas City, MO, Maryville, TN preferred

 What You Will Do: 

  • Manage StandardAero’s global trade compliance program, including policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable import/export regulations, including but not limited to ITAR, EAR, OFAC, customs regulations, and international trade agreements. 
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on trade compliance matters for global operations and supply chain teams.
  • Conduct risk assessments, internal audits, and compliance reviews related to trade activities.
  • Investigate potential trade compliance violations and lead corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support regulatory inquiries, disclosures, and audits in coordination with Legal and internal stakeholders. 
  • Manage classification, valuation, country of origin determinations, licensing, and recordkeeping for aerospace parts, engines, tooling, and technical data. 
  • Perform due diligence and trade compliance reviews for international opportunities.
  • Provide guidance on licensing requirements, exemptions, and authorizations for international shipments and technology transfers. 
  • Ensure proper management of customs brokers, freight forwarders, and third-party logistics providers. 
  • Partner with Supply Chain, Engineering, Programs, Quality, Finance, and IT to embed trade compliance into operational processes. 
  • Support M&A, new site integrations, and business expansions by assessing trade compliance risks and implementing controls. 
  • Advise business leaders on trade impacts related to sourcing decisions, customer contracts, and international programs.  
  • Develop and deliver trade compliance training for employees at all levels. 
  • Promote a culture of compliance through clear communication, practical guidance, and ongoing engagement. 
  • Track and report key trade compliance metrics, risks, and trends to leadership. 
  • Drive process improvements through automation, system enhancements, and standardization across sites. 
  • Stay current on regulatory changes and assess business impact proactively.

 

Position Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, International Trade, Law, or a related field. 
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in trade compliance, import/export, or global logistics within a regulated industry. 
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. and international trade regulations (ITAR, EAR, OFAC, Customs). 
  • Experience supporting global operations and cross-border supply chains. 
  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Proven ability to lead investigations, audits, and corrective action plans. 
  • This position requires up to 20% travel as needed to support business operations.


 

Preferred Characteristics: 

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, aviation MRO, or manufacturing environments. 
  • Juris Doctorate from accredited university, licensed to practice law in the U.S., or previous in-house or law firm experience.
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB).
  • Trade compliance certifications (e.g., CCS, CES, CUSECO, or similar). 
  • Familiarity with military, government, or dual-use programs. 
  • Knowledge of foreign trade zones (FTZ), duty drawback, or free trade agreements. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels. 
  • Experience supporting M&A integrations or global ERP systems.
