JOB SUMMARY:

The Traditional Clubhouse Director (TCD) leads a flagship Boys & Girls Club of Mid Central Coast facility, responsible for the full scope of Clubhouse operations, program quality, staff leadership, and community impact. Traditional Clubhouses operate year-round and serve as central hubs for youth engagement, partnerships, and organizational visibility.

The TCD is accountable for developing and executing site-level strategy, delivering high-quality, outcome-driven programs, achieving membership and Average Daily Attendance (ADA) goals, and ensuring operational and financial health. This role provides leadership to a larger, more complex team (including indirect reports) and manages facility operations in partnership with internal departments.

The TCD operates with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining alignment with organizational priorities set by the Area Club Director (ACD) / Regional Club Director (RCD).

Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Strategic Leadership & Clubhouse Management
  • Develop and execute annual Clubhouse goals aligned with BGCMCC strategic priorities.
  • Lead overall Clubhouse operations, ensuring a high-quality Club Experience and strong youth outcomes.
  • Monitor performance metrics (ADA, membership, program outcomes) and implement strategies to improve results.
  • Ensure compliance with BGCMCC policies, BGCA standards, and licensing requirements (if applicable).
  • Serve as the primary leader responsible for Clubhouse culture, performance, and impact.

Program Quality & Youth Development

  • Oversee all core program areas, ensuring engaging, age-appropriate, and outcome-driven programming.
  • Lead implementation of the National Youth Outcomes Initiative (NYOI), including survey administration and participation goals.
  • Ensure consistent program schedul es, structured activities, and high-quality delivery across all age groups.
  • Use data and evaluation tools to assess program effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure accurate tracking of attendance, participation, and program outcomes.

Staff Leadership & Talent Development

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, and develop a high-performing team of Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) and leadership staff.
  • Provide direct and indirect supervision, including coaching, performance management, and professional development.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive culture aligned with BGCMCC’s ICARE values.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, trainings, and performance evaluations.
  • Build leadership capacity within the team to support succession planning and growth.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage the Clubhouse budget; monitor expenses and ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Partner with Resource Development staff to ensure grant compliance, reporting, and sustainability of funding.
  • Oversee membership administration and fee structures, where applicable.
  • Ensure effective management of supplies, equipment, and facility resources.
  • Collaborate with Facilities staff to maintain a safe, clean, and functional environment.

Safety & Operations

  • Ensure a physically and emotionally safe environment for members and staff.
  • Oversee safety protocols, emergency procedures, drills, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain responsibility for facility condition, cleanliness, and overall operational readiness.
  • Identify risks and implement improvements in collaboration with organizational leadership

Partnership & Community Engagement

  • Serve as the primary ambassador for the Clubhouse within the community.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, schools, advisory groups, and community organizations.
  • Support outreach, recruitment, and retention strategies to grow membership and engagement.
  • Represent BGCMCC at community events, partnerships, and collaborative initiatives.

Marketing, Advocacy & Visibility

  • Promote Club programs and services to increase awareness, participation, and community support.
  • Partner with internal teams on marketing and communications strategies.
  • Support and participate in fundraising events and community advocacy efforts.
  • Elevate the Clubhouse as a visible and valued community asset.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Participate in organizational initiatives, special programs, and cross-functional projects.
  • Transport members and/or staff as needed 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Internal:

Collaborates with organizational leadership and departments (HR, Resource Development, Facilities, Programs) to ensure Club success 

External:

Leads relationships with families, schools, community partners, advisory groups, and stakeholders


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
  • 3–5+ years experience in youth development or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role comparable to a Club Director
  • Demonstrated experience managing programs, staff, and operations in a multi-faceted environment
  • Internal Candidates: Completion of Club Director Orientation and Club Director Academy highly preferred, BGCA Tier II Trainer preferred

  • Strong knowledge of youth development principles and program quality standards
  • Proven leadership and staff development skills, including managing indirect reports
  • Experience with budget management and operational oversight
  • Ability to analyze data and drive program improvement
  • Strong relationship-building and community engagement skills
  • Effective communication, both written and verbal
  • Ability to manage complex operations with multiple priorities

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Successful completion of background check and ongoing screenings
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL Class C required for passenger transport, if applicable)
  • CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, and special events
