Job Summary
The Senior Producer leads the editorial vision and end-to-end audio, and where applicable, video, production of The Anti-Trans Hate Machine,TransLash’s award-winning investigative podcast. This role oversees the full production lifecycle, from research and concept development through publication, while managing Producer(s) and external partners to ensure rigorous reporting, consistent creative quality, operational excellence, and timely delivery.
The Senior Producer sets editorial direction, establishes episode constraints, and ensures that each production meets the highest standards of narrative clarity, accuracy, and audience engagement. This role balances creative leadership with disciplined execution, team management, and cross-team collaboration.
This role carries primary responsibility for investigative rigor, narrative integrity, and team leadership at the show level, translating executive creative direction into actionable production strategy and daily execution.
Roles and Responsibilities
Editorial & Creative Leadership
- Oversee execution of the overall editorial and creative direction for the Anti-Trans Hate Machine podcast programming
- Define episode scope, thematic focus, and structural constraints (e.g., outlines, interview frameworks, narrative arc)
- Review and approve outlines, drafts, and scripts to ensure investigative depth, narrative clarity, factual integrity, and alignment with the show’s mission
- Guide Producer(s) in shaping strong editorial concepts and execution.
Team Leadership & Management
- Manage and mentor Producer(s), providing structured feedback, growth planning, and daily operational leadership
- Provide clear direction, feedback, and performance oversight
- Allocate workload and ensure team capacity aligns with production demands
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and editorial excellence.
Production Oversight
- Oversee the complete production lifecycle from recording through publication
- Manage production timelines, budgets, and cross-functional coordination
- Supervise editing processes and approve final audio before release
- Ensure required permissions, releases, and compliance standards are met
- Oversee metadata creation, distribution readiness, and platform publishing
- Anticipate and manage investigative pivots, including schedule shifts, rewrites, or additional reporting as new information emerges.
Guest Strategy & External Relations
- Lead guest sourcing strategy aligned with editorial priorities
- Oversee guest outreach, scheduling, and onboarding processes
- Maintain strong external relationships with interviewees and partners
- Ensure smooth post-publication follow-up and engagement.

This is a fully remote position. The Senior Producer may be based anywhere within the United States.
Salary
$116,300 annually plus benefits.
Requirements
Qualifications
- 7+ years of podcast or audio journalism experience, particularly within investigative journalism
- Demonstrated experience leading editorial direction for narrative-based programming
- 3+ years prior experience managing and developing production staff
- Strong script writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Experience overseeing production budgets and complex workflows
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Strong audio production fluency; experience with tools such as Asana and Riverside is preferred but not required
- Demonstrated ability to create culturally competent coverage and operate with sensitivity to trans and LGBTQ+ communities
- Willingness and availability to travel occasionally for on-site investigative reporting, including potential multi-day field assignments.
Physical Requirements
- Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
- Prolonged periods working on a computer.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
