Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced, hands-on and commercially focused Treasury Banking Manager to lead our Banking team within the Treasury function. We are at the heart of maintaining and growing banking relationships with our key partners encompassing our FX, Safeguarding, investment, liquidity management and corporate Treasury requirements. Managing a small team, you will act as the key link between Wise Treasury and our core banking partners, ensuring we have the right infrastructure and commercial terms to support our growth.
Here’s how you’ll contribute to Wise’s mission:
- Manage the Portfolio: oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of Wise’s relationships with Treasury-specific counterparties. This includes global Tier 1 banks, FX liquidity providers, Money Market Fund providers, custodians and fixed-income trading counterparties.
- Commercial Optimisation: Lead regular service reviews and commercial discussions. You will monitor our "wallet share" across Treasury products (FX, deposits, investments) to ensure we are receiving competitive pricing and optimal service levels from our partners.
- Onboarding & Maintenance: oversee the onboarding of new Treasury counterparties (ISDAs, custody, trading limits) and manage the ongoing maintenance of these relationships, including KYC refreshes and due diligence.
- Treasury Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for external Treasury partners, ensuring a coherent voice from Wise. You will coordinate with internal Product or Banking & Expansion teams where they utilise the same banking partners to ensure alignment.
- Operational Efficiency: Work closely with the Treasury Operations and Engineering teams to resolve escalations, improve settlement flows, and remove friction from our banking infrastructure.
- Safeguarding Oversight: Manage the specific network of safeguarding accounts required for regulatory compliance, ensuring they are properly audited, maintained, and diversified according to our risk policies.
- People Management: Lead and mentor a team of two Banking Associates. You will help them prioritise their workload, manage global administrative tasks, and develop their commercial skills.
- Process Improvement: Identify manual processes in our banking management (e.g., account opening, fee analysis, signer management) and assist with projects to automate or streamline them.
Qualifications & Experience
- Treasury Experience: You have over 5 years experience working within Banking relationships, Treasury function or Transaction Banking environment. You understand the specific needs of a Treasury desk - including FX setups, MM deposits, and liquidity.
- Relationship Management: You have a track record of managing bank relationships. You know how to navigate large banking organisations to get things done and are comfortable challenging partners on service or fees.
- Technical Understanding: You are familiar with core Treasury documentation and products (e.g., ISDA/CSA, GMRA, KYC requirements, credit facilities, SWIFT messaging).
- Organisational Skills: You can manage a high volume of requests and administrative complexity without dropping the ball. You are happy to roll up your sleeves to assist the team with documentation or operational blocks when needed.
- Clear Communicator: You can synthesise complex banking updates into clear, actionable information for the functional Treasury leads and other internal stakeholders.
