Practice Summary:

Greenberg Traurig’s multidisciplinary Tax Practice attorneys provide tax planning and advice to clients, including major multinational corporations; large privately-owned businesses; financial institutions; exempt organizations; and private individuals, including high net worth individuals. Given our team’s diverse backgrounds and prior experience, including work in private industry, government, and private practice, we have the capabilities necessary to develop practical legal services to meet the challenges faced by this broad range of clients. We provide our clients with a range of tax services, including U.S., cross-border, and state and local tax advice in connection with both domestic and international mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions; global business structures; capital markets; fund formation; real estate investment/financing; finance and financial instruments; and dispute resolution and litigation. Additionally, we counsel senior management and business owners on tax issues regarding their personal income, estate, gift, and wealth transfer matters. We work closely with our clients to address the complex challenges of today’s uncertain market – seeking out greater efficiency in tax planning, ensuring compliance with ever-changing tax laws, and coordinating tax decisions from country to country.

Our State & Local Tax Practice offers a complete set of services, including the full range of counseling and controversy services. We counsel clients on transactional planning, tax-advantaged business restructuring, audit defense and representation in state and local administrative proceedings, appeals all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court, and large-scale multi-jurisdictional litigation. GT is unique among national State and Local Tax practices because we also regularly partner with our firm’s nationally-recognized Government Law and Policy Practice to help clients achieve results in the legislature as well.
