Provide administrative and coordination support to underwriting teams across the full account lifecycle: log submissions, track quotes and renewals, process policy servicing, maintain trackers, assist finance and compliance, onboard brokers, prepare for audits, and contribute to process improvements to ensure timely, accurate service to brokers.
We’re looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant to join our growing U.S. team in Walnut Creek. Sitting at the heart of our underwriting function, you’ll play a critical role in supporting our underwriters across multiple product lines, helping them move quickly, stay organised, and continue delivering an outstanding service to brokers.
This is a fast-paced, hands-on role where you’ll be involved in the full lifecycle of account handling - from submission through to policy administration and renewals. You’ll act as a central coordination point across underwriting, operations, and finance, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll provide high-quality, reliable support that enables our underwriting teams to operate efficiently and deliver an exceptional service to brokers. You’ll be involved across the full lifecycle of an account, helping to keep activity moving at pace while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Logging new business submissions and referrals, ensuring risks are accurately recorded and allocated
- Supporting the tracking of quotes, binds, and follow-ups to help drive timely responses to brokers
- Managing renewal activity, including monitoring upcoming renewals and outstanding accounts
- Maintaining team trackers and spreadsheets to ensure data is up to date and accessible
- Processing policy servicing tasks such as mid-term adjustments, cancellations, and broker of record letters
- Onboarding broker contacts and granting access to internal platforms
- Supporting finance with follow-ups on outstanding premium payments
- Issing notices such as cancellations and conditional non-renewals
- Ensuring underwriting files meet internal quality, compliance, and audit standards
- Supporting audit preparation and working closely with compliance where required
- Contributing to process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and broker experience
About you
You’re a recent higher education graduate or early in your career with a strong interest in building a future in insurance. You’re naturally organised, detail-oriented, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
You’re a confident communicator who enjoys working with others and takes a proactive approach to getting things done. Curious and eager to learn, you’re motivated to develop your knowledge of underwriting and the wider insurance market.
