Everest Evolution™, a member of the Everest Re Group, Ltd. is looking for Underwriting Assistants to join our growing team in our offices across the country!  We are actively seeking underwriting assistants to support our dynamic and growing dedicated Excess & Surplus (E&S) business.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Underwriting Assistant I to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical role in supporting the underwriting team in managing new and existing business across multiple lines.

This role is within Everest’s Operations Department and could provide underwriting support for the following lines of business:

Lines of Business Include:  Commercial Auto, General Liability, Workers Compensation, Excess Casualty

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Supporting West Coast Underwriters possibly requiring adjusted work hours.
  • Review and analyze incoming transactions and related information for completeness accuracy and quality.
  • Multi-line new business submissions, renewal submissions and endorsements processing including rating, policy construction and assembly in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Regularly reviews and adheres to department processing guidelines and procedures to ensure accuracy including recommended changes/enhancements.
  • Manage underwriting and broker relationships with timely responses relative to service inquiries.
  • Maintain all correspondence activity with internal and external customers including daily diaries on pending transactions.
  • Compliance with ODEN state rules and regulations relative to cancellations and reinstatements.
  • Gathering and analyze underwriting information including experience reports, final audits, loss control reports, financial reports, loss runs, MVRs, and FEINs.
  • Ability to manage internal report updates based on manager discretion.
  • Participates in peer review and quality control for team(s) as needed.
  • Special projects, including participation in Home Office projects, as needed.

Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  •  Relevant work or educational experience OR 1-2 years underwriting experience
  • Proficient in MS Office, with exceptional skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with E&S Insurance a plus

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  •  Strong desk management, written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to developing rapport with business partners, underwriters, agents and co-workers by phone, email or in person.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and requests to complete work within required time constraints with a high volume of work.  
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills and mathematical aptitude.
  • Proficiency in using online reference manuals and multiple electronic systems.
  • The ability to work in a team environment and handle multiple deadlines with ease.
  • Self-starter that is energized by independent learning and research.
  • Review and provide feedback on quality review of other team members to management based on required checklist.

For New York, New Jersey, Chicago, and California Only: The base salary range for this position is $55,000 - $68,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications, and work location.
