The financial industry is growing at a record pace, but the software powering it is often difficult to navigate. Complex workflows, technical terminology, and inconsistent product experiences create unnecessary friction for users.

Databento is the next generation market data provider — with the radical idea that you should only pay for the data that you use. We power the world's largest finance and fintech institutions and lower the barrier of entry for small startups, gaining over 4,000 users during our first year of launch. Our team brings former experience at the world's leading quantitative firms, including Two Sigma, Flow Traders, Tower Research, PDT Partners, SIG, and more.

We're looking for a UX Writer to shape the voice of our products and create intuitive, user-centered experiences across our platform. You'll partner closely with product designers, engineers, and go-to-market teams to ensure every interaction is clear, consistent, and thoughtfully crafted.

You'll help simplify complex financial concepts, establish messaging standards, and influence the product experience for a growing user base. As a UX Writer, you'll have the opportunity to define our content strategy, build scalable processes, and make a lasting impact on both our product and brand.

As the UX Writer at Databento, you will:
  • Own copy across all product surfaces, ensuring messaging is clear, consistent, and user-focused
  • Collaborate with product designers to optimize user flows and improve the overall product experience
  • Review product mockups and prototypes, providing copy recommendations and supporting design-to-engineering handoffs
  • Partner with engineering teams to develop intuitive language for complex technical concepts and workflows
  • Work closely with product and go-to-market teams to ensure product messaging aligns drives success of product
  • Develop and maintain messaging frameworks, voice and tone guidelines, and copywriting standards
  • Support content design initiatives
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on UX writing and content strategy
  • Identify opportunities to improve product usability through thoughtful language and content design
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Prior job experience in UX/UI writing, product design, product marketing, technical writing, or any copywriting role
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered writing
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts
  • Strong understanding of UX principles and design
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product, engineering, and design teams
  • Familiarity with Figma
