Say hello to Hagerty

Hagerty is a company built by drivers for drivers. We’re proud to be the world’s largest insurer of collectible and enthusiast vehicles and are home to the Hagerty Drivers Club, the world’s largest car club. We’re committed to Never Stop Driving. Ready to get in the driver’s seat? Join us!

As a Valuation Coordinator for Hagerty Marketplace, you evaluate incoming vehicle submissions, research market values, set auction reserves, and communicate recommendations to sellers. Every vehicle that reaches the platform passes through your evaluation first. Your work directly determines acceptance rates, reserve accuracy, and the quality of inventory offered to buyers. This role requires deep knowledge of the collector vehicle market, confident judgment on vehicle values, and the ability to negotiate with sellers to align on pricing that supports successful auction outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Evaluate inbound vehicle submissions and determine whether each vehicle is a fit for the platform based on condition, title status, and market category.
  • Research comparable sales and market trends to establish a defensible value range for each vehicle. Apply that research to set a reserve recommendation or determine that no-reserve is the right positioning.
  • Communicate reserve recommendations to sellers clearly and professionally. Manage pushback with data, not just policy, and negotiate toward terms that support a successful auction outcome.
  • Make accept, decline, and pass decisions within defined guidelines. Escalate high-value or borderline vehicles to the Sr. Ops Manager.
  • Own the seller relationship through the acceptance process. Once a seller agrees to terms, transition the lot to the Coordinator team with all relevant details documented and communicated.
  • Maintain accurate, complete records for every submission in the operational tracking system. Every vehicle reviewed has a documented decision and next step.
  • Support the Business Development Lead on Professional Seller lots as needed, primarily around lot setup and tracking entry.
  • Contribute to team calibration and process improvement. Share market observations and flag patterns that affect acceptance rates or reserve accuracy.

This might describe you

  • Exceptional knowledge of collector vehicles, auction dynamics, and market values across vintage, modern classic, and modified vehicle categories.
  • Demonstrated experience using Classic.com, Hagerty Valuation Tool, Bring a Trailer, KBB, or equivalent platforms for valuation research.
  • Superior written communication skills. Comfortable delivering honest market data to sellers who may be emotionally attached to their vehicles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret comparable sales data and apply consistent judgment across a high-volume daily queue.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred), spreadsheet tools, and content management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain consistent output in a fully remote environment.
  • Strong experience in automotive appraisal, vehicle valuation, collector car sales, digital auction curation, or collector car insurance.
  • Experience with vehicle identification tools, title documentation, and provenance research.
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing role involving negotiation.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Other things to note

  • This position is open to U.S. remote work. However, team members who reside within 20 miles of the Traverse City headquarters will follow a hybrid schedule, working from the office three days per week.
  • May require travel for quarterly events.
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
