We're seeking a strategic and analytical Valuations Manager to lead complex valuation engagements, with a primary focus on financial institution valuation in support of financial and regulatory reporting. This role will manage projects such as purchase price allocation (ASC 805), goodwill impairments, ESOP, gifting, estate settlement, and minority shareholder transactions. While experience with financial institutions is preferred, candidates with strong general valuation or financial institution audit backgrounds who are willing to learn the specifics of financial reporting are encouraged to apply. The position offers autonomy, the opportunity to work with a lean, high-performing team, and the chance to drive client impact.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead Engagements: Independently manage valuation projects from start to finish, including direct client interaction, data collection, timeline organization, and report drafting.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Conduct and review financial analyses, industry and economic research, projections, due diligence, extensive modeling, and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Client Presentations: Deliver findings to clients and stakeholders such as client c-suites, advisors, attorneys, boards of directors, and other decision-makers with clarity and confidence.
  • Business Development: Support growth initiatives by creating marketing materials, attending prospect meetings, contributing to proposals, and building client relationships.
  • Consulting & Recordkeeping: Provide document consulting and maintain records in accordance with firm standards and best practices.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with partners, analysts, and other team members.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple engagements (typically 10-20 at various stages), with most projects lasting four to six weeks.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business valuation or audit required; experience with financial institutions and/or purchase price allocation (ASC 805) strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, ASA, or ABV preferred (not strictly required if other qualifications are met)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Workday preferred
  • Experience as a financial institution auditor is highly valued

Skills & Abilities:
  • Valuation Expertise: Strong command of methodologies (DCF, market multiples, precedent transactions, asset-based approaches)
  • Financial Modeling: Build and review complex models with precision
  • Industry Research: Skilled in tools like Capital IQ, PitchBook, IBISWorld, Bloomberg
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience with forensic and analytical software (IDEA, ACL, Tableau, Power BI)
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple engagements using Wipfli systems and workflows
  • Client Engagement & Business Development: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to represent Wipfli's values of integrity, excellence, and teamwork
  • Attention to Detail & Curiosity: Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, question assumptions, and ensure accuracy in all deliverables
  • Self-Starter: Ability to work independently with minimal oversight, take ownership of projects, and proactively drive results
