Vice President and Head of Product Design

About the role
As Vice President and Head of Product Design at Cloudflare, you will be responsible for leading design teams for our entire product portfolio. Whether it is guiding the feel of the debug interface that will help developers deploy Serverless Applications or streamlining a simple rule builder that allows non-technical users to secure their web app, your job is to help make complicated things simple and powerful things achievable for users of all types. At varying times this involves creating a vision, establishing a roadmap, and ensuring a high level of product quality and delivery.
The Product Design organization at Cloudflare is made up of Product Designers, User Researchers, Design Operations, and Design Systems folks that love to learn, collaborate, and solve large-scale problems. This role reports to the President of Product & Engineering.
Your work and the work of your department will impact and influence the experience of products used by millions of people and by thousands of companies daily. As Vice President of Product Design, you will work closely with the leadership team of the company as well as product and engineering leaders and other cross-functional stakeholders. What you'll do

• Lead, mentor and grow the Product Design organization at Cloudflare including product design, design operations, design engineering, and user research.
• Build and enhance design principles and practices.
• Foster a culture of diversity and inclusiveness.
• Work with engineering and product leaders to establish both near-term and long-term product vision.
• Refine and enhance the Cloudflare design team culture and export best practices to product teams across the organization.
• Utilize quantitative and qualitative data and understand how to translate it into accessible service and interface design.
• Own the design, UX and product experience best practices to refine and enhance the Cloudflare design team culture and export best practices to product teams across the organization.

Examples of desirable skills, knowledge and experience

• Previous experience leading world class sizable product design teams at technology companies (B2B a plus).
• Proven track record building and developing diverse design teams.
• Experience leading design engineering teams across multiple product lines as well as design systems
• Deep empathy with, and understanding of users' needs.
• Experience leading product research teams.
• Excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills.
• 15+ years product/UX design experience.
• Technical expertise, curiosity and a good understanding of network services

Compensation
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.

• For Bay Area based hires: Estimated annual salary of $352,000 - $430,000
• For New York based hires: Estimated annual salary of $337,000 - $411,000
