The role involves leading engineering teams, driving project execution, mentoring engineers, operationalizing AI models, and fostering a high-quality engineering culture at GenBio AI.
GenBio AI develops multiscale foundation models to decode and simulate human biology. Our team is accelerating towards an ambitious future where scientists can unlock humanity's biggest challenges in drug discovery, healthcare, and fundamental research with AIDO (AI-Driven Digital Organism): a unified framework for predicting, simulating, and programming biology across all scales. The foundation of this vision begins today as we engineer the virtual cell to model and simulate the fundamental unit of life.
This vision has brought together a talent-dense group of product-minded researchers and engineers dedicated to bringing it to reality. Our team prides itself on our strong engineering culture and highly interdisciplinary and collaborative approach. We are based in Palo Alto, with satellite offices in Paris and Abu Dhabi.
As our team scales, we are looking to bring on an experienced engineering leader to drive a culture of engineering excellence at our Palo Alto office. Reporting into our CTO, you will lead diverse teams of engineers with responsibilities in both product and infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Execution Velocity: drive a high-tempo shipping cadence, ensuring the team consistently delivers on product and engineering milestones.
- Project Orchestration: Coordinate complex engineering efforts across teams, identifying critical path dependencies and removing blockers to keep projects on track.
- Talent Development: Actively mentor junior and mid-level engineers, providing the coaching and feedback loops necessary to maximize their growth and technical output.
- Research-to-Production: Build the bridge between research and engineering, operationalizing experimental foundation models into robust, scalable production systems.
- Engineering Culture: Instill a culture of rigor, velocity, and code quality; define the standards for testing, CI/CD, and developer experience.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner closely with the C-level leadership team and research leads to align technical deliverables with the company’s scientific milestones and product vision.
Qualifications
- Leadership Experience: 10+ years of engineering experience with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles, managing managers and high performing engineering teams.
- Domain Expertise: Experience with foundation models and complex generative AI products. Strong architectural fluency in modern AI infrastructure
- Strategic Execution: Demonstrated ability to transition complex technologies from an R&D phase to a commercial-grade platform.
- Scale & Infrastructure: Deep technical understanding of high-performance computing, GPU cluster optimization, and the architectural challenges involved in training and serving foundation models at scale.
Join us as we embark on this journey to redefine the future of biology and medicine.
We are an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
