The Vice President of National & Special Accounts is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the National Accounts team through an enterprise lens. This role's primary objective is to ensure exceptional client engagement through strategic consultation, account retention, and profitable business growth. This job leads a team of account management leaders, fosters a client-centric and trusting culture, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive solutions tailored to our clients' needs. Responsibilities
  • Develops and executes the strategic vision for the National and Special Accounts team, aligned with Delta Dental’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Provides inspirational and transformational leadership to account management leaders, fostering a high performance, trusting culture and modeling coaching best practices.
  • Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and works through Account Management leadership team to implement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, enhance the client experience, and refine strategic/performance consulting behaviors.
  • Cultivates key internal relationships and fosters collaboration with underwriting and actuarial, claims and customer service, new sales, marketing, and professional relations to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and competitive intelligence to identify potential business opportunities.
  • Where necessary, builds and maintains strong relationships with senior leadership at key clients, modeling performance consulting and strategic advisor skillsets.
  • Forecasts business needs and implements effective succession planning strategies to identify and develop high potential team members within Account Services, ensuring a strong pipeline of future leaders and talent.
  • Collaborates with new sales and marketing teams to develop strategies that maximize revenue generation and market penetration, in alignment with Delta Dental's overall goals and objectives.
  • Through account management leadership team, oversees the account management process, ensuring timely renewal reviews, develops growth opportunities within existing business and facilitates delivery of other client deliverables.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant industry regulations, internal policies, and best practices.
Qualifications
  • Boasts over 16 years of professional experience, complemented by a bachelor’s degree and more than 10 years of experience in supervisory roles.
  • Possesses at least 8-10 years of relevant account management experience, with a consistent record of success.
  • Adept at forging effective relationships with both internal and external parties and is comfortable liaising with leaders at all hierarchical levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a high-trust environment with leadership, reports, peers and key stakeholders. 
  • Promotes a professional culture anchored in service excellence, trust, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Utilizes a proactive approach to multitasking and navigating challenging situations.
  • Is a self-driven individual with a strong sense of direction and integrity.
  • Exhibits exceptional professionalism, with excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Has strong analytical abilities, with an understanding of core underwriting concepts, budgets, and P&L.
  • Has demonstrated the ability to make tough, strategic decisions and effectively execute them.
  • Exhibits strong leadership abilities with the capability to evaluate, coach, inspire, and lead other leaders.
  • Has the ability and willingness to travel extensively, as needed.
  • Is proficient in leveraging technology solutions and CRM systems.
  • Obtain and maintain a General Insurance Life and Disability Insurance License.

Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. 
Pay Grade 27. $190,284 - $338,249
