Role Overview

Compass Surgical Partners is seeking a Vice President of Operations to provide strategic leadership across our growing portfolio of ambulatory surgery centers throughout the Midwest region. This leader partners with ASC CEOs to drive operational excellence, financial performance, physician engagement, and leadership development while ensuring each center is equipped to execute at a high level.

By establishing scalable operating frameworks, coaching center leaders, strengthening physician and hospital partnerships, and leading successful new center launches, this leader translates enterprise strategy into consistent portfolio performance. The role is critical to building the leadership bench, operational discipline, and infrastructure needed to support Compass Surgical Partners' continued growth.

What You'll Do

Drive Portfolio Performance

  • Lead the overall performance of a portfolio of ambulatory surgery centers, ensuring achievement of financial, operational, and quality objectives

  • Partner with ASC CEOs to strengthen center-level ownership of financial performance, operational execution, and long-term business performance

  • Develop and execute strategies that improve EBITDA, revenue growth, expense management, and operational efficiency across the portfolio

  • Lead Monthly Operating Reviews (MORs), identify performance trends, and coach leaders through actionable improvement plans

  • Monitor key business metrics and leverage data-driven insights to optimize staffing, productivity, supply costs, and resource utilization

  • Build consistent operating disciplines that support scalable portfolio growth and long-term success

Optimize Clinical & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure centers consistently achieve or exceed key operational, quality, and patient experience metrics

  • Establish operational frameworks and performance standards that enable consistent execution across the portfolio

  • Promote best practices that improve patient outcomes, physician satisfaction, and operational consistency

  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence

Lead Growth & New Center Development

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to successfully launch new ambulatory surgery centers and integrate acquired facilities

  • Ensure new centers open on schedule, within budget, and positioned for long-term success

  • Build repeatable launch playbooks and operational readiness frameworks that enable efficient portfolio expansion

  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve launch processes and scalability

Build Physician & Partner Relationships

  • Develop trusted relationships with physicians, hospital partners, governing boards, and key stakeholders across each market

  • Support physician recruitment, engagement, and syndication initiatives that strengthen long-term partnerships and drive case volume growth

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to physician partners while balancing operational excellence and business performance

  • Champion an exceptional physician and partner experience across the portfolio

Develop High-Performing Leaders

  • Recruit, coach, and develop high-performing ASC CEOs who lead with accountability and business ownership

  • Partner with each leader to establish individualized development plans that strengthen leadership capability and support long-term career growth

  • Build a strong leadership bench and succession pipeline to support continued organizational growth

  • Foster a culture where leaders are empowered to make decisions, drive results, and develop future talent

What You’ll Bring
  • 8+ years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience, including multi-site oversight within ambulatory surgery centers or comparable outpatient healthcare environments

  • Demonstrated success leading portfolio-level operational and financial performance, including multi-site P&L ownership and measurable EBITDA growth

  • Proven ability to develop and coach operational leaders, building high-performing teams and strengthening leadership capability through accountability, coaching, and succession planning

  • Experience partnering with physicians, hospital systems, and governing boards to build trusted relationships and support long-term strategic growth

  • Track record of successfully leading organizational growth initiatives, including de novo center launches, acquisitions, or operational integrations

  • Strong operational and financial acumen with the ability to leverage data, performance metrics, and continuous improvement methodologies to drive results

  • Executive presence with exceptional communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to effectively engage physicians, executive leadership, and governing boards

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required

Preferred Experience:

  • Master's degree (MBA, MHA, or related) preferred

  • Private equity-backed healthcare operations

  • Leadership of multi-site ASC portfolios approaching or exceeding 8-10 centers

  • Experience supporting physician syndication initiatives and partnership development

  • Experience building scalable operating models, performance management frameworks, or business intelligence/reporting capabilities

Individual pay is determined by work location and factors such as relevant skills, experience, and education or training.
