The VP of Product Operations will oversee product lifecycle processes, product strategy execution, cross-functional enablement, and data reporting within a technology company.
The Opportunity
The VP of Product Operations will be a critical, strategic member of the Product Office Leadership Team, scaling our ability to deliver maximum value efficiently and consistently.
As the VP of Product Operations, you will be the connective tissue between Product Management, Engineering, Product Marketing and the Go-to-Market (GTM) teams.
You will own the operational rigor, process excellence, and strategic enablement that allows our Product organization to scale effectively without sacrificing quality or speed.
This is a crucial leadership role for an executive who can blend strategic thinking with hands-on operational execution, ensuring our product strategy translates into disciplined, predictable execution.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning & Execution Excellence Process Ownership
Design, implement, and govern the end-to-end product lifecycle processes, from ideation and discovery through development, launch, and iteration (e.g., stage-gate reviews, discovery frameworks, prioritization cadences).
Roadmap Governance: Standardize and manage the overall Product Roadmap process, ensuring alignment between strategic goals (OKRs) and tactical execution across all product lines and engineering teams.
Tooling & Infrastructure: Select, manage, and optimize the Product tech stack (e.g., Jira, Aha!, Tableau, internal documentation systems) to ensure data integrity and process flow efficiency.
2. Cross-Functional Enablement & GTM Readiness
Launch Excellence: Develop and manage a standardized Product Launch framework, coordinating readiness activities across Marketing, Sales, Support, and Legal to ensure successful, unified product introductions.
Voice of Customer (VoC) Loop: Establish and manage the system for collecting, synthesizing, and routing market feedback, user research, and competitive intelligence back into the product planning process.
Product Documentation: Oversee the centralization and quality of internal product documentation, ensuring GTM teams have timely, accurate, and consistent information.
3. Data, Reporting, & Insights
Metrics & Dashboards: Define and maintain a consistent set of operational and performance metrics (KPIs) for the entire Product organization (e.g., cycle time, release velocity, feature adoption rate, roadmap adherence).
Business Review Cadence: Run the regular Product review forums (e.g., Quarterly Business Reviews, Portfolio Reviews) that report performance, highlight risks, and drive strategic portfolio decisions.
Capacity Planning: Partner with Engineering and Finance to model resource capacity and inform strategic hiring and portfolio prioritization decisions.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience in Product Management, Product Operations, Program Management, or a related operational role within a high-growth technology company.
5+ years in a senior leadership role, including managing and scaling high-performing operations teams.
Deep expertise in implementing modern Product Management and Agile development frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, continuous discovery).
Exceptional ability to design, document, and enforce governance over complex cross-functional processes.
Mastery of Product Management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Aha!, etc.) and data visualization tools.
Proven ability to work effectively across C-suite, Engineering VPs, Marketing VPs, and Sales leaders.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
