Job Description:

AssetMark is a leading wealth management platform dedicated to empowering independent financial advisors. AssetMark’s mission is to enable financial advisors to make a profound difference in the lives of their clients. Over 10,000 advisors partner with AssetMark for our investment offerings, innovative technology, advanced services, and expertise, which they use to delight their clients and grow their businesses. We are an integrated team of technologists, investment professionals, and operations experts working to help our clients stay at the pioneering front of wealth management.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Vice President, Solution Architect to join our Product & Engineering team to lead complex, strategically important initiatives. This is not a traditional architect role. It is a project-based, hands-on leadership position for individuals who bring together deep technical expertise, product intuition, operational discipline, and commercial acumen.

These are the individuals we turn to when the stakes are highest—whether it’s launching a major new capability, overhauling a critical system, or resolving a deep cross-functional challenge. The VP, Solution Architect partners closely with Engineering, Product, Data, Operations, and Business stakeholders as needed to design, develop, and deliver novel solutions.

This role is ideal for senior leaders who thrive in ambiguity, move easily between strategic thinking and tactical execution, and have a track record of delivering transformative outcomes.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to one of our following offices: Charlotte, NC, Phoenix, AZ, Concord, CA, or Atlanta, GA.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Initiative Leadership: Take full ownership of critical cross-functional initiatives—from opportunity definition through execution and delivery.
  • Architecture & Systems Thinking: Design pragmatic, scalable, and modern solutions that align with enterprise architecture while driving business outcomes.
  • Cross-Functional Integration: Align technology, product, operations, and commercial teams around a unified vision and execution plan for each initiative.
  • Technical Depth: Engage directly with engineering teams to review architecture, contribute to solutioning, and de-risk complex technical work.
  • Operational Rigor: Build and manage detailed project plans, ensuring that scope, schedule, and quality goals are met across teams.
  • Product Sensibility: Translate high-level business goals into coherent user experiences and system flows, balancing speed, scalability, and usability.
  • Communication & Influence: Create clarity for senior stakeholders through crisp documentation, clear storytelling, and decisive leadership.
  • Culture of Excellence: Model a high standard of ownership, curiosity, and results-orientation; mentor emerging leaders across the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Proven ability to lead and deliver multi-disciplinary initiatives that span technology, business, and operations.
  • Deep understanding of the wealthtech ecosystem and commercial landscape of our industry.
  • Deep understanding of modern technology stacks including microservices, APIs, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), and data architectures.
  • Strong product sensibility and experience contributing to UX, user workflows, and feature definition.
  • Exceptional communication skills—able to synthesize complexity and drive alignment across executives, engineers, and business teams.
  • Experience in wealth management or financial services preferred but not required.
  • Track record of thriving in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments with a high degree of autonomy.

Education & Experience

  • 15+ years of experience in wealth management tech or asset management tech, with demonstrated leadership in architecture, product delivery, and operational execution.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.

Why Join AssetMark?

  • Work on the hardest, most strategic challenges in a fast-growing, private equity-backed organization.
  • Drive initiatives that have enterprise-wide impact and lasting value.
  • Collaborate with executive leaders across technology, product, and business domains.
  • Be part of a mission-driven team focused on enabling financial advisors to make a difference in people’s lives.

Compensation: The Base Salary range for this position is between $250,000-$280,000.

This information reflects a base salary range that AssetMark reasonably expects to pay for the position based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and actual work location. This position will also be eligible for additional variable incentive compensation and competitive benefits.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US to be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
