Summary:
GoodFinch is an SEC registered investment manager that has raised over $1B in assets under management to invest in clean energy assets through closed-ended private fund structures. The key principals were founders or executives of some of the leading American solar companies including Paramount Solar, Vivint Solar, SolarCity, DSD Renewables and GoodLeap.
 
GoodFinch is at the intersection of sustainability and financial innovation where we aim to deploy capital at a meaningful scale to address the climate crisis by investing in clean-energy assets, to do good for the planet while doing well for our investors. We are looking to expand on this strategy and grow our already strong team.
 
As part of our growth, we are looking for our first dedicated in-house tax professional. This position will play a key role in supporting the Director of Finance in areas of tax structuring and tax compliance for GoodFinch’s managed private funds. The role will be responsible for developing optimal tax structuring for complex investment transactions, manage tax compliance, tax reporting, and tax planning.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, legal and investment teams to determine optimal tax structuring for complex investment transactions to properly address various client considerations (onshore vs offshore); mitigate ECI and UBTI
  • Oversee preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for various GoodFinch Fund entities and Management Company and ensure all tax reporting deliverables and timelines are met
  • Develop framework for preparing internal tax estimates and tax planning for GoodFinch managed funds and Management Company
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and tax reporting team at internal portfolio company

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • 5-7 years of tax experience in private and public accounting covering private equity or hedge fund clients with exposure to onshore/offshore clients, ECI and UBTI considerations
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting and CPA required
  • Prior experience managing tax compliance, planning, and reporting for complex organization
  • Prior experience working with K1s, corporate federal and state returns, PFIC/subpart F income
  • Prior experience with levered blocker structures
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Proficient in MS Office with expertise in MS Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Superb attention to detail and work ethic and self-starter who can take ownership of processes and projects
  • Ability to work in a collaborative setting or individually as required
  • Prior experience with securitizations, debt instruments, consumer loans, and other structured products preferred
  • Comfort in working in fast-paced, changing environment and ability to adapt with changes in responsibilities

Compensation: $160,000 - $180,000 per year (DOE)
