The financial industry is growing at a record pace, but our data providers are still stuck in the past — with cumbersome onboarding processes, complicated APIs, slow infrastructure, and expensive licensing costs.

Databento is the market data platform for modern finance. The company provides real-time and historical data across futures, options, and equities through a unified API. By owning the entire market data stack end-to-end, Databento is the first platform of its kind to combine the performance and reliability demanded by the world's leading trading firms with a dramatically simpler developer experience. Our team includes alumni of Two Sigma, Citadel Securities, Flow Traders, IMC, Tower Research, Jump Trading, HRT, Jane Street, and SIG.

We're looking for a visual designer to bring Databento's brand to life across web, digital, and print. You'll create compelling visual experiences across projects ranging from website design and marketing campaigns to event materials and other branded assets.

This is a hands-on role for a designer who cares deeply about visual craft and enjoys working across a variety of formats. You'll own projects from concept through production, partnering with our growth and product design teams to translate technical concepts into clear, effective visuals.

The role offers meaningful opportunities to shape Databento's visual identity and influence our creative processes. We're open to designers at different stages of their careers and will match the role's level to your experience and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design responsive pages for Databento's marketing website, with a focus on usability, visual hierarchy, and conversion.
  • Develop creative concepts and visual assets for product launches, campaigns, blog posts, and social media.
  • Create event signage, promotional materials, and other digital and print collateral.
  • Turn complex financial and technical concepts into illustrations, diagrams, and infographics.
  • Extend Databento's visual identity across channels, developing reusable templates and exploring new creative directions.
  • Own design projects from initial brief to final delivery, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.

Requirements

  • A portfolio demonstrating strong visual craft in typography, layout, composition, color, and hierarchy.
  • Typically 3+ years of experience in visual, marketing, or brand design. We weigh your portfolio more heavily than your years of experience.
  • Experience designing responsive web pages for desktop and mobile.
  • Understanding of web UX principles.
  • Experience designing across digital and print formats.
  • Experience with extending and evolving design systems.
  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, communicate design decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience designing for B2B SaaS, developer tools, fintech, or other technical products.Experience at a high-growth startup or creative agency.
  • Experience with motion graphics, animation, or video editing.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility, A/B testing, and conversion analytics.
  • Experience preparing print-ready files and coordinating with print vendors, particularly for event signage and collateral.
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS.
  • Interest in exploring AI-assisted tools to improve design workflows and production efficiency.
  • Interest in financial markets or market data.

We offer health, dental, disability, and life insurance benefits, as well as 401(k) matching for full-time employees. We accommodate 100% remote work, with teammates living around the globe and paid in their local currency.

The base salary range for this role is $95,000–$185,000, benchmarked to Tier 1 locations in each country. Total compensation may also include bonuses, commissions, and equity, depending on the role.
