Build and lead the enterprise sales function for a technical business-decision simulation product. Personally source and close early six-figure enterprise contracts, develop paid pilots and proposals, establish forecasting and sales-to-delivery processes, hire sellers, and define staffing and spending priorities with the founders. The role is exploratory, currently equity-only, unfunded for cash compensation, and based in person in New York City or San Francisco.

Expression of Interest · Inquire First

We are meeting senior leaders for this planned function as we fundraise. This is an exploratory conversation, not an immediately funded salaried vacancy or a guaranteed start date. No cash salary is available today; any equity arrangement must be agreed separately. You are not being asked to begin work by expressing interest.

Use the Apply form below to introduce yourself and indicate your interest. We can discuss mutual fit, scope, funding, compensation, and timing before either side makes a commitment.

New York City or San Francisco · In person · Full time · Functional leadership

Build the enterprise sales engine for a product that helps companies test decisions before committing capital. Personally win the early accounts and turn those lessons into a team that can repeat the result.

Why Subconscious

Subconscious is building the intelligence to run the economy. We start with a simulator for business decisions, using causal experiments on simulated markets to test products, pricing, messaging, and go-to-market choices before capital is committed. The long-term ambition is to help businesses discover unmet demand and build around what people actually need.

The function you will build

Own direct enterprise sales execution, account strategy, qualification, forecasting, and the sales hiring plan. Partner with the GTM + Strategic Partnerships co-founder, whose broader remit includes company commercial strategy and partner channels. Make the handoff between sales and delivery precise.

This is a hands-on leadership role. Set the functional roadmap and propose staffing and spending priorities with the founding team. Hiring and budget commitments depend on approved resources; an established team or funded budget is not assumed.

Proposed first 90 days after joining

Use these as an initial agenda, refined with the founders against the product, customer needs, and resources at your start.

  • Define a focused account list around business decisions with a budget owner, a time-bound need, and a credible fit for the product.

  • Build opportunities through direct prospecting and discovery; document the buyer, decision, purchase process, risks, and next commitment.

  • Develop paid pilot and enterprise proposals with measurable success criteria and an explicit path to expansion.

  • Create a forecast, loss review, and sales-to-delivery handoff that colleagues can trust.

How we will judge progress

Qualified pipeline converts into deliverable contracts, collected revenue, and durable customer relationships. Track stage conversion, sales cycle, win rate, contract value, forecast accuracy, and expansion readiness. Agree revenue targets against the actual starting pipeline and capacity.

What you bring
  • You have personally sourced and closed six-figure enterprise contracts for a technical product and can separate your contribution from that of the team.

  • You have built or led a sales function, hired strong sellers, and remained willing to prospect and close yourself.

  • You can navigate technical validation, procurement, legal, security, and executive alignment without promising unsupported capabilities.

We are looking for evidence of judgment, execution, and leadership. A particular company pedigree or previous executive title is not a substitute for that evidence.

Compensation and funding

We are actively fundraising. Only equity-based compensation is currently available; no cash salary is available today. The equity grant and its terms have not been set for this role and must be agreed before joining. Any future salary, incentive plan, benefits, hiring budget, or paid start date depends on financing and written agreement. Funding and its timing are not guaranteed.

Before deciding to join, discuss the grant structure, fully diluted ownership basis, vesting, dilution, applicable exercise terms, company funding position, and working arrangement. A company valuation is not the cash value of an equity grant.

How we work

New York City or San Francisco · In person. The planned role is full time; timing is to be agreed. Expect direct collaboration with the founders, work across scientific and commercial boundaries, and responsibility for doing the early work yourself. The current role does not include visa sponsorship. Confirm practical collaboration hours and any travel expectations during the initial conversation.

Start with work you already own

Walk through one enterprise win and one loss: how you sourced the account, qualified the need, navigated the buying process, and what changed your judgment. Exclude confidential customer information.

Please do not share confidential employer or customer materials. Bring your questions about our product, evidence, team, finances, and the authority attached to the role. Mutual diligence matters for a decision of this size.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
