About Ando

Ando is building AI-native workforce infrastructure for the 80M hourly workers in the U.S. and hundreds of millions globally.

Labor is the last broken supply chain. Forecasting, allocation, and professional identity remain fragmented across static tools and manual decision-making. Ando is rebuilding this system from first principles.

We start with highly accurate AI-generated demand forecasts, move to allocation-first labor optimization, and compound value through a persistent labor graph that captures skills, reliability, availability, and performance across time and employers. Over time, this becomes a professional identity layer and intelligent system serving both enterprises and frontline workers.

Ando is a Seed-stage company backed by Slow Ventures and experienced operators. We are live with real customers and entering a phase where architectural clarity, learning loops, and AI systems quality are foundational to long-term success.

Due to the volume of inbound outreach, we are unable to review direct emails or messages regarding this role. Please do not contact Ando employees or leadership directly, as those inquiries will be deleted without review. All applications must be submitted through the official posting to be considered.

AI / ML / Data Systems
  • Serve as Ando's AI/ML visionary — own the point of view and strategy for how forecasting, optimization, and labor intelligence create durable, defensible advantage, and direct the teams that build it

  • Direct the applied ML & data platform end-to-end — ingestion, normalization, feature systems, evaluation/monitoring, experimentation, and operational analytics — setting the standards, architecture, and measurement loops the ML/data teams execute against

  • Own and design an AI-native product architecture (including agentic workflows) with human-in-the-loop, auditability, safety guardrails, and rollback plans while making the principled calls and ensuring teams implement them well

Technical Leadership / Engineering
  • Oversee all engineering and product-engineering functions including Product Management, Architecture, Core Systems, Frontend, Backend, Data, ML/AI

  • Set the technical vision and turn it into an executable roadmap; make principled architecture decisions while shipping continuously

  • Build an engineering operating system that scales: planning, reviews, quality gates, release practices, and platform standards that increase throughput and correctness

  • Raise the bar on reliability, security, and privacy for enterprise scale: observability, incident response, SLOs, data governance, and security posture

Leadership / Team Building
  • Recruit, develop and lead a high-performing org across ML/AI, backend, frontend, data, infra, and Product; build a culture of ownership, speed, and high standards

  • Lead through ambiguity with crisp communication; create alignment via strong writing, decision logs, and predictable cross-functional cadences

Strategy / Executive Partnership
  • Be the CEO’s partner on strategy and platform bets; translate strategy into technical priorities, sequencing, and resourcing with clear tradeoffs

  • Represent Ando externally — to investors, the board, customers, and the tech community/ecosystem — as the company's senior technical voice

  • Stay close to customers and the market to shape what gets built; engage enterprise stakeholders to earn trust and reflect real operational constraints

Location: San Francisco–based candidates who can work hybrid from our San Francisco office beginning early 2027 are preferred. A long-term willingness to be based in San Francisco is a important, as Ando's Leadership Team will be centered in San Francisco as the company scales.
