About the Team

Like every team at OpenAI, the Marketing team contributes to our broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. With that aim in mind, we are responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI’s products and platform amongst our core audiences. We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We then partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Comms, and Design teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels. Our focus extends beyond just promoting product features; we aim to provide valuable insights and resources that help our users make the most out of AI technologies.

About the role

OpenAI is hiring a Web Platform Lead to define, scale, and evolve the platform that powers our global web presence. This role sits at the intersection of product, growth, brand, and infrastructure — treating the web not simply as a marketing channel, but as a core product surface that shapes how the world discovers, understands, and adopts AI.
You will own the strategy, systems, and operating model behind OpenAI’s marketing web ecosystem, guiding its evolution from a single primary domain into a scalable platform that supports multiple web properties. This includes setting standards, governance, tooling, and experimentation frameworks that enable teams to move quickly while maintaining quality, trust, and consistency at global scale.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone equally comfortable thinking at the executive strategy level and diving into platform mechanics. You’ll partner closely with leaders across Marketing, Product, Engineering, Brand, Growth, Comms, Legal, and Research to align priorities, resolve tradeoffs, and deliver high-impact work in a fast-moving environment.
Success in this role means making OpenAI’s web ecosystem faster to build on, easier to operate, and measurably more effective as both a business engine and a product experience.

In this role, you will

  • Lead the tooling, systems, and execution for major product launches, purchase flows, and growth initiatives, ensuring OpenAI’s web experiences clearly communicate product value and drive adoption across global audiences.

  • Own and scale high-impact web experiences tied to new product categories.

  • Act as the accountable owner for flagship web initiatives, driving alignment and decisive execution across cross-functional teams when priorities compete.

  • Design and continuously improve conversion-focused experiences across product education, purchase pathways, onboarding, and lifecycle touchpoints.

  • Shape scalable approaches for delivering repeatable launch and campaign experiences, enabling faster iteration while maintaining a high bar for craft, performance, and brand consistency.

  • Drive experimentation and measurement strategies that improve engagement, conversion, and customer understanding across web surfaces.

  • Introduce AI-native workflows that accelerate content creation, testing, personalization, and operational efficiency.

  • Build strong operating rhythms that keep stakeholders aligned and execution moving in a fast-paced environment.

  • Partner with senior leaders across Marketing, Product, Growth, Comms, Legal, and Engineering to navigate tradeoffs and deliver outcomes that support business objectives while meeting privacy and compliance expectations.

You might thrive in this role if you

  • Have 10+ years of experience in e-commerce, web platforms, digital product, growth engineering, or marketing engineering, including leadership of multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Have demonstrated ownership of a high-scale web ecosystem (multi-domain or multi-product environments), with strong instincts for platform strategy, governance, and execution.

  • Have a strong track record leading cross-functional flagship initiatives with many stakeholders—able to drive clarity, alignment, and decisions.

  • Have deep experience with experimentation and measurement (A/B testing, analytics, attribution/measurement strategy, performance marketing signals).

  • Are comfortable operating at both strategic and technical levels—able to partner closely with engineers and also communicate crisp tradeoffs to senior stakeholders.

  • Have excellent operational rigor: roadmap planning, intake/prioritization, capacity management, and delivery hygiene.

  • Have created a scalable web platform strategy that unlocks speed and consistency across domains.

  • Have established clear ownership and governance so teams can move fast without confusion.

  • Have lead flagship web initiatives to high-quality launches, even amid competing priorities.

  • Have modernized the marketing technology stack and operational workflows—especially through AI-native approaches.
