This role is part of our Systems Innovation Engineering (SIE) division, which specializes in readiness and logistics, autonomous platforms, and sensor technologies. SIE develops resilient, integrated systems that enhance situational awareness, sustain mission readiness, and deliver reliable performance across air, ground, and maritime environments.  


The Windchill Data Migration Developer is responsible for developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining Windchill migration and data cleansing solutions within an advanced Software and Enterprise Solutions team to support the US Navy. This role involves supporting large scale data migrations into Windchill from multiple source systems as necessary. Performing detailed data analyses on existing data in the system and correcting deficiencies or enhancing the data structures/attributes per customer requirements. The ideal candidate has 5 to 8 years of experience in Windchill data migration development and execution specifically utilizing the Windchill Bulk Migrator tool, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Analyze source system and data to develop mapping and transform logic/scripts to enable migration in target Windchill environment.
  • Query Windchill database to confirm data trends or report out information to support solutioning or business needs.
  • Leverage Windchill Bulk Migrator, PTC’s Load From File Framework, Windchill’s Importable Spreadsheet, and/or custom scripts/utilities to load data into the target Windchill system, or to modify, append to, or cleanse data already loaded.
  • Support integration projects between Windchill and other enterprise systems and applications which may require initializing datasets or assistance querying or extracting Windchill data in bulk.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing, including unit, integration, and system testing ensuring application quality and functionality stay in spec.
  • Debug and resolve complex application, customization, or data defects and issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for all data extraction, transformation, loading and cleansing rulesets and solutions.
  • Provide training and support to end-users on data relationships and extract, transform, load, or cleansing logic when necessary.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Windchill developments and data migration industry best practices.


Required Qualifications:

  • Currently hold PTC certifications for Windchill.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or other engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with PTC’s Windchill PLM software and specifically with using and developing on top of Windchill Bulk Migrator.
  • Experience installing and configuring Windchill Bulk Migrator.
  • Minimum of 5 successful large scale data migration projects completed from different source systems into Windchill including but not limited to the loading of Parts, CAD, Documents, Links, Attribution, Primary and Secondary Content, Change Records, History, and BoMs.
  • Experience working with and developing on top of Windchill version 12.
  • Experience collaborating with the PTC Technical Support & R&D organizations.
  • Experience building custom loaders for WBM.
  • Experience with Windchill to Windchill data migrations.
  • Strong SQL scripting competency.
  • Strong understanding of Windchill’s db schema and object model.
  • Experience in Windchill Business Administration, including security configurations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with and certifications in Agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Proficiency in Red Hat Enterprise Linux Version 8 administration and shell scripting specifically for Windchill Implementations.
  • Experience investigating and resolving Windchill performance related issues.
  • In-depth understanding of the aerospace and defense industry.
  • Knowledge of DoD software development policies and requirements.


Clearance Requirements 

Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information.  Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL).  In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment.
