The Role
- This role is 80% writing and 20% analysis of spreadsheets and other information. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY if your primary expertise is in areas such as databases, data engineering, or programming and analytics.
- Write technical research reports that use test data to support a marketing story. To do so, using primarily your own judgement, you will:
- Analyze complex spreadsheets, published benchmark data, research findings, and other information sources to identify insights.
- Extract relevant data points and translate them into clear, accurate, and compelling narratives for technical and marketing audiences.
- Collaborate with strategists, analysts, designers, and subject matter experts to turn data-driven insights into persuasive written and visual assets.
- Acquire expertise in high-tech subjects and supporting data and transfer that expertise to written deliverables and occasional supporting graphics.
- Work as a member of a cross-functional, multi-purpose team where success depends on every member.
- Deliver drafts on time according to a schedule you help to define.
- Work effectively in a constantly changing environment, prioritize multiple tasks, work under minimal/remote supervision and provide frequent status updates while juggling multiple projects.
- Experience writing or supporting B2B messaging and positioning
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex spreadsheets, reports, research data, or benchmark results and identify the most relevant findings for a target audience
- Strong analytical judgment, with the ability to distinguish meaningful data points from background noise and connect findings to a broader business or technical story
- Excellent math skills are required
- Advanced spreadsheet skills required
- Ability to create charts and visualizations in spreadsheets or other software required
- Experience using data to strengthen content
- Experience working with content about technology domains a strong plus. Examples would include datacenter infrastructure, cloud service providers or software ecosystems
- Proven ability to quickly grasp new technologies, understand supporting data, and identify the insights that matter most to a target audience.
- Comfort working with ambiguity, incomplete source materials, and evolving client direction while maintaining accuracy and clarity
- Agency experience a plus
- The pay range for this role is $45 – 75 per hour as a 1099 contractor.
