About Alex

Alex is the AI recruiter for hiring great people.

Alex interviews, screens, and schedules every candidate – over voice, video, and text – so talent teams hire more great people, faster, without adding TA headcount. The recruiter stays in control: every shortlist is approved by a human, and every relationship and offer is owned by the customer's team.

We're past 1M+ interviews, integrate with 33+ ATS platforms, and 96% of candidates prefer interviewing with Alex. We're revenue-generating, well-funded, backed by premier investors, and are focused on enterprise customers: selling to VPs of Talent Acquisition, CHROs, and CFOs at large employers who are rethinking how hiring gets done at scale.

About the Role

Every Alex account is run by a pair. A Forward-Deployed Engineer owns the technical deployment — the ATS integration, the workflows, the support queue. You own the relationship and the revenue. You're joining the AM team early, and your input will shape the function. This role is based in office in San Francisco.

You'll carry a book of accounts: retaining and growing revenue, deepening the relationship, and finding the strategic expansion paths.

  • Own NRR for your book — renewals end to end, plus the upsells and expansions that grow an account past its initial booking.

  • Multi-thread the relationship — exec sponsors, champions, and the recruiters using Alex daily, so a single departure doesn't take the account with it.

  • Drive adoption — onboard users, run trainings, and watch usage closely enough to spot which teams need a nudge before it surfaces in a renewal.

  • Build the business case, inside and out — arm your champion to sell Alex to their own leadership, then turn those wins into case studies that help close the next deal.

  • Lead QBRs with business stakeholders, using usage data and our roadmap to open expansion paths. Set success criteria at kickoff so renewals confirm next steps rather than force them.

  • Work the pair with engineering — route technical asks to your FDE rather than absorbing them, and pass expansion signals back the other way.

About You
  • 5+ years in Account Management, Customer Success with a revenue number, or an AE carrying a renewal and expansion book, at a SaaS company. You can name the target you carried and how you hit it.

  • You've owned renewals end to end — timeline, pricing, negotiation, close — and you're comfortable asking for money.

  • You've gotten a customer's team to change how they work, not just gotten a contract signed.

  • Credible with executives and with recruiters on the same day.

  • Technically fluent, not technically hands-on: you can hold a real conversation about an ATS integration and know when to bring in your FDE.

  • A data-driven storyteller: you act on usage metrics before a renewal is at risk, and turn a customer win into collateral that helps win the next one.

  • A commercially confident builder: you'd rather have the pricing conversation early than let it sit, and you’re excited to build playbooks for this function at you go.

  • Bonus: experience at a high-growth startup.

This might not be the role for you if you prefer a support role without a number attached, or you don't want to work in person. We're in office in SF 5 days a week.

What's in it for you?
  • Shape the foundation of our Account Management org, with an engineer paired with you on every account you run.

  • Competitive compensation, equity, and growth potential.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, unlimited PTO, company-paid team lunches, a beautiful office in SF, and great company events.

If you've gotten this far and our culture resonates with you, we want you to apply. Your first conversation will be with Alex, our AI recruiter.

Alex is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
