The Accounting Consultant role within Individual and Family Plans will primarily be responsible to lead the day-to-day execution of core accounting functions, including general ledger activities, financial analysis, and financial reporting. This role ensures accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and support of financial close, financial reporting, and audit processes in a rapidly growing and increasingly complex business.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week. The preferred location for this position is the Minnetonka, MN office.
Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as a trusted accounting partner to business leaders, finance teams, and cross-functional stakeholders
• Lead monthly closing activities for assigned, including full P&L and balance sheet ownership
• Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries in accordance with GAAP and company policies
• Perform account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and resolve complex accounting and financial reporting issues
• Analyze monthly financial results and prepare clear P&L and balance sheet variance commentary
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting activities, including preparation or review of financial statements and supporting schedules
• Develop, document, implement, and maintain effective accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of accounting processes and reporting
• Manage multiple priorities independently and collaborate with team members to ensure accurate and timely deliverables
• Solve moderately complex problems and/or conduct moderately complex analyses

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and / or relevant accounting/finance experience
• 3+ years of Accounting experience including month-end close, preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
• Experience working with general ledger / sub-ledger accounting applications
• Solid understanding and practical application of U.S. GAAP
• Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Public accounting experience and / or CPA designation
• Healthcare industry experience
• Experience with Peoplesoft Financials, Hyperion SmartView and Blackline
• Ability to demonstrate solid planning and organizational skills, along with a high degree of detail orientation
• Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written
• Proven ability to work in both team and self-directed work environments
• Proven ability to solve moderately complex problems and / or conduct moderately complex analyses
• Proven ability to effectively prioritize and juggle multiple projects
• Proven to be a self-starter and solid time management

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $72,800 - $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
